So the AC will confirm the Mosaic Covenant with Israel. I had always thought there would be a peace treaty that would allow for return to the temple sacrifices.

Why would the Mosaic covenant be confirmed for only one week? Or is one week not the length of the covenant, but just how long of period of time Daniel is talking about?

Thinking about keeping the covenant, Solomon's temple was dedicated at the feast of the 7th month, i.e. Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot. The bible calls the month Ethanim. After the exile, it is called Tishri  1Kings 8:1-5, 59-65

When the Lord returns to rule, celebrating this feast is a requirement. It's a feast to the Lord when remembrance and celebration of Him and Him dwelling among us that time is set aside for

Zech 14:16-18,  Leviticus 23:33-43

Perhaps it is at this feast that the abomination of desolation happens, ac proclaiming its about himself.

i agree with Heather, in Daniel's time there was no old or new covenant, only the covenant that God instituted and Israel broke.

What Heather is saying makes sense. I just don't get the one week part.

I’m personally confused about the whole thing myself  because about 2 years ago I saw a YouTube ... I can’t recall the watcher’s name that was broadcasting the update but she claimed they were going back to “Noahide” Laws.  But now will it be “Mosaic” Laws instead?   Also last week I saw 2 youtubes from Unsealed.org that Moderator Mike posted about the start of the offerings/sacrifices and the 3rd Temple (that it might not even be necessary to have the 3rd Temple built at all) and that the 3rd Temple might be reserved for the millennium kingdom.  I was totally shocked with that view ... I posted both short youtubes in the thread called “Temple Location”  back on March 6th.  And in one of those YouTubes the Israeli’s Authority expect the offerings/sacrifices to begin BEFORE the 3rd Temple is built. All they need is the approval from the Muslim Waqf and they can start as early as ... this Passover!     I’m watching for any updates because  they actually might get the approval to do the offering right on the Temple Mount itself.  Ironically they are saying this Covid “pandemic” could be the means to bring both Jews and Muslims together with the goal of trying to remove the “plague” with a sacrifice offering ... :popcorn :popcorn :popcorn

One week of years = 7 year Tribulation.

I get that. I just mean that at the time the covenant is confirmed, it sounds like it will be confirmed for a period of 7 years. That it is understood from the start to be 7 years long.  That is why we have been interested in a peace treaty that lasts 7 years or a presidency that lasts 7 years. But I don't know why the AC would make a covenant with Israel stating that they can have their sacrifices for 7 years unless it was part of some other agreement also that might be planned to be reviewed and renewed after 7 years.

hi Blue, some things we just don't know.

if I was going to hazard a guess, i would look to the law to see what there is about seven years that Israel's rabbis may go along with or insist upon

Here are some places in the law about seven years:

Ex 23:10-12 The law of sabbaths

Lev 25:1-12 The sabbath of the seventh year and counting periods of seven years to count for the jubilee

Lev 25:18-19 Provisions for the seventh year

Deut 15:1-10 Cancelling of debts every seven years. maybe the structure for loan repayments or credit given will be calculated based on a seven year structure

Deut 31:9-13 The law is to be read every seven years, reminding people to freshly commit to following the Lord. This is interesting, it is to be done at the Feast of Tabernacles. So maybe instead of reading the law and recommitting to the God of Israel, antichrist demands commitment to himself.

Geri, I could use some of those chocolate chip cookies and mint icecream!

I much prefer living under grace!
