I want to take mine because they will be a testimony to the work of the Lord in my life. It will show where He sustained me and carried me through. I don't think we will see things the same way in Heaven. Jesus told us to rejoice when we are persecuted! What's that!?!?! Rejoice! Surely I must have read that wrong? Rejoice? How could He say that...........unless there is more to it than we can see or comprehend. Persecution can be horrible even to the point of death. So how is it we are to rejoice in persecution? Because He has something in store that we are unaware of. Everything He tells us to do goes against our nature. We want to be proud. He tells us to be humble. We want our way. He tells us to submit. We want to be important. He tells us to be a servant. And it goes on. So I think our scars, both physical and emotional will bear witness to Him and bring Him glory. I have my own stories. Some are awful. But I want to take them with me and glorify Him with them. I understand if other do not and there is nothing wrong with that. But I would encourage you all to look at yourselves and see His work in you and His name being praised by your life. Jesus is why we live. The world hates Jesus. And they hate us to. We have the scars that show it.

I have been reading up on heaven/eternity/new earth a lot lately. Like reading a travel guide before you travel, it's good to know about your future destination. Smile
Anyway, I have enjoyed reading from Randy Alcorn's website. (Eternal Perspective Ministries) Here is part of his answer as to if we will have scars in heaven.

Our scars and disabilities are the result of life in a sin cursed world, not as a result of our paying a qualitatively eternal atoning price for sin, which of course we did not and could not. So when God says no more suffering and pain and death, and the old things are passed away (Revelation 21), that would mean we would be forever free from the bodily results of sin and curse.

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement of Scripture and articles to read!     For those curious … here is a pic of my birthmark … its the kind that grew when my leg got longer. It was half the size when I was younger. It was placed in a bad spot that you can’t get removed. My dad’s niece had one much smaller on her face … near her chin and she had hers removed.   But at least a regular size band-aid covers it up.  So I’m thankful for that!  I did have a lady in this condo community say last summer … what happen to your leg UGH … I guess she wanted to know why I always wear a band aid 🙁 … you can’t win … such nosy people in this life that truly need to mind their own business.

I love you all and thankful for the support of this community. :rose:

Geri, What about a stick-on tattoo thing?  A cross, flower, or maybe Jesus using birthmark as His hair?   It would make it blend in with society more than a band aid.

Thanks for the suggestion, Lee.  I will check into that and see if the chemicals in the tattoo are not harmful.  The thing is its very sensitive ever since I got hit with a line drive baseball in high school while standing on 3rd base and I can’t have anyone touch it to this day.  Meanwhile the band-aid is safe to apply and has been a great sun blocker too from getting sunburn right there.  We are so out of here soon … so I think I can put up with the naysayers until our departure  … then they will have their own worries to think about …

Geri, I am sorry for what you are going through.  I like Lee's suggestions. Some tattoos that you can just stick to your body temporarily are cute. I would like a butterfly or a nice flower...Yes, people can be really nosy but nobody would say anything about that.

I remember an actress that looked like a doll and her body was perfect. My sister told me that the actress admitted that the only parts of her body that had no cosmetic surgeries were her arms. So much for someone having the perfect body!

I hope nobody thinks I am being insensitive adding some comic relief in a serious discussion like this, but I think we all like a bit of humor. I just remembered an episode of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air that was really funny.

Will and his beautiful girlfriend get stuck in the basement after an earthquake. They sit on the floor and the lady removes her lashes. Then when Will tries to kiss her and put one hand into her hair, her wig comes off. After that, the lady is thirsty and tells Will to open up a bottle for her. He tells her to do it herself. She said she can't really do it and ends up removing her finger nails.

Will stands up and tells her: Ok, listen, in the last few minutes, you removed your eyelashes, wig and nails. Now is there anything else on your body that I can get from the mall?

Again, I really hope I wasn't being insensitive joking in such a serious thread.

Randy Alcorn's book Heaven has been a great comfort to me, he has done a thorough and detailed work about what scripture infers and says directly about Heaven......so ready to go!

Yeah, it has been a great comfort to me, too. It really keeps me grounded. Well, at least until we fly up to meet our beloved Saviour. :yahoo:
