Here in the U.S. if you have dental insurance, then you go twice a year for a cleaning (every 6 months its covered) and then if you need a filling that’s, of course, another appointment. Personally I wouldn’t get a root canal. I regretted it. I was born with 4 molars that have no secondary tooth. So right now I still have 2 baby teeth in my mouth. And the 2 bottom molars (have been pulled). Thankfully they are in the back of my mouth so no one can see the gap if I smile. The dentist said lets save that bottom molar. I followed his advice and he kept drilling and drilling and drilling … about 6 visits for the root canal. All that amalgam leeched out and went to my thyroid gland and destroyed it … hence I’m on thyroid pills for life. And that tooth had to get pulled anyway … and I had to get a dentist to blast all the amalgam out of my gum line. This one dentist had the special machine to do it .. not everyone has it and he was in his late 60’s and said I have never seen soooo much amalgam in a jawline. I also switched out all my filling over to white composite. Anyway I wouldn’t do the root canal. They are only taking your money. If you have to … I would just get it pulled, especially if its located where you can’t see the gap if you smile. Was'nt Mengela a dentist?! If someone isn't putting chocolate into my mouth, I don't trust them! Or peeled grapes! Now there's a career! TR I mentioned in my post that I see the dentist 2 - 3 times a year. It should be once every 2 - 3 years. (2 - 3 times a year! I don't think so. Not with those charming root canal sermons ) So Heidi and Geri — funny story about dentist. First I hate going, very thankful for great teeth. Anyway, it had been about 10 years since I had gone to a dentist and I thought — ok I will go! So I made the appointment in 2017 and went for an annual visit. When I filled out the questionare about the length of time, I put 10 years. When I got to the back — the dentist began telling me how I should visit every 6 months to keep my teeth healthy and the insurance covers it and bla, bla, bla …. So then he checks my mouth, he quickly just shut up, no cavities, no issues. He began asking me what do you do to keep your teeth in such great shape without going to a dentist … I brush and floss and rinse with Thieves … So he said well I guess I wont see you for another 10 years :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr: Course I ended up going in in 2018 because I broke a tooth on popcorn Wow, good for you, Tammie! Love it. Too funny about the popcorn kernel made you have to go back. That happened to me but with chewing “French Burnt Peanuts”. I heard a crack and was in so much pain. I had to go the oral surgeon … guess who the guy was that fixed my tooth? A Rothschild and I was joking around and said are you related to Lord Jacob? I never expected him to say … yes, he’s my uncle. His dad lives in France. This is him … He gave me novocane and then used a tweezer and pulled out this small bone fragment. And I was no longer in pain. He didn’t charge me. He was so kind and I was able to quickly give him the Gospel. He listened so it ended up being a divine appointment. So what is Thieves? Is it a fluoride mouth wash? If I feel a toothache I have the ACT Fluoride mouthwash … I swish my mouth with it … but you can’t eat or drink for 3 hours. And the toothache goes away. I also use a Waterpik and it gets all the junk out of the gum line. I hope people are not eating while reading this. :mdrmdr:
had to have the dreaded root canal …. Haven’t been back yet …. Don’t intend to go….. Geri, I did have to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled as my mouth was too small (no comment from the peanut gallery) when I was 22. I don’t go, I would agree they want money! I take care of my teeth, gums, etc…. Maybe they will fall out but it’s been great not going….
