That is neat you saw the pinkish tint. Perhaps tonight you can get another chance to take a cool pic. Do you live right near the beach? I had the same issue with hazy sky and then the trees were in the way. I did notice it was much bigger than the prior night and still bright out even though it was behind the haze when I walked my dog at midnight. No flashlight needed.
