Correct … no cheese in scrambled eggs … but I will make a cheese omelete and ordering out in a restaurant I will be daring and also ask for chopped ham to go with it.

Ditto, Geri. I've never even heard of biscuits and gravy. But then I'm from the sticks.

We have buttermilk rusks, which you can dunk in your tea, or coffee (if you're fresh out of tea).

Yes, the Amish serve dumplings and they are excellent! I used to live in Chadds Ford, PA near enough to Lancaster County and my folks would take us there for dinner on occasion.

Don't they have gnocchi at your Italian restaurants?

Perhaps I “might” have once accidentally tried a dumpling at the Amish in Lancaster, PA  if it was served in at a smorgasbord?  Amish have the best hamburgers and steaks since they are organic.

The weird thing is up in my neck of the woods instead of southern food dishes they seem to embrace Mexican food.  Chili’s, Taco Bell and a handful of independent ones.
