There are dispensational teachings out there that teach the pre trib rapture, they teach that we are saved by grace alone thru faith alone, but they deny that the Book of Revelation was to and about the church the body of Christ. They claim that John did not write Revelation in circa 95 AD,  They claim that Revelation was actually written prior to 70 AD before the Temple was destroyed. They say that the churches referred to in Rev 1 thru 3 are only written to Jewish converts and churches and not the churches that Paul taught in his epistles composed to both Jews and Gentiles. They conclude that Revelation is not about the rapture of the church in Rev 4 and 5; that it is not depicting or inferring the rapture of the church.  They say that only in Paul's letters, like Thess and 1 Cor 15, tell us about the rapture. The do say that Rev 6 thru 18 describes the tribulation. In other words, they are saying that Revelation is totally a Jewish book for Israel and not for the church composed of Jew and Gentile both.

The people who teach this, some not all, are part Ultradispensational and Hyperdispensational belief systems. Most of them are not extreme Bullingerites and, as I say, only some deny that Revelation is to and about us the body of Christ.  Some say also that John's epistles were only to Jewish converts.  The most well-known ultradispensational teacher I know of is Les Feldick who has his own TV Bible study series called "Through the Bible." I could not find out whether Les teaches that Revelation is only about Israel and not us the church.

Again, I am writing this as a heads up to pre-trib believers to be Bereans and prayerfully search the scriptures. I believe that Revelation was written about 95 AD and is addressed to and about the church.  So be on guard, there are grace alone believers who carry dispensational teaching to extremes and say that only Paul's teaching are directly for the church.

Thank you, Phil. There is a lot of bad teaching out there. We definitely have to be on our guard against chopping up the Bible into neat little segments. Hyperdispensationalism is a big word with big problems.

Paul wrote about staying with "the simplicity that is found in Christ" in 2 Corinthians 11:3. Therein lies the best answer. :good:

I just read an interesting article this morning about people believing that Revelation was written before 70 AD because that has to be true in order for them to hold on to their view. Thomas Ice wrote "Preterist teach that the book of Revelation is primarily a prophecy about the Roman war against the Jews in Israel, a war that began in A.D. 67 and ended with the destruction of the Temple in AD 70."  This is from an article that is found in a Bible that includes commentary and articles about scriptures by Biblical prophecy experts- It is the Tim LaHaye Prophecy Study Bible and I highly recommend it for the prophecy commentaries and articles throughout.  This article I read today is called "Preterism and the Date of Revelation" by Thomas Ice  -fair use for education and comment- He explains how the conclusion of Revelation being written around 95 AD is made and why he and many believe that...he also talks about things like the temple written about in Rev. being part of John's vision- he says it's like how the temple Ezekiel saw -when there wasn't one currently in Jerusalem- he was told to measure it....

Yes, we definitely need to pray for discernment in all things and especially in scriptural understanding and spiritual truths....seeds of confusion and lies have been sown by the enemy worldwide...but greater is He that is in us...He is able to help us to stand firm in our faith and to not be deceived by the lies of the devil and doctrines of demons that may otherwise depress, discourage and defeat us

Some do conveniently place Revelation as well as John's Gospel and his Epistles before 70 AD as some of the earliest Epistles.  They ignore the historical proofs that show John wrote all these during his exile during the persecutions of emperor Diocletian in around 95 AD during John's exile to the Isle Patmos.
