Amos 1:1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

"two years before the earthquake"

This verse has always intrigued me. Why did Amos mention an earthquake which would happen two years after he wrote chapter one and two, regarding the fourth transgression? How did he know that there would be an earthquake coming in two years? There is no biblical record of that earthquake during his ministry. Did God tell him to write down the earthquake, and left us a clue to a future event?

Here's my take. There is a purpose for him to make note of the earthquake. From Ezekiel 38, we learn that when Gog leads a large army against Israel, God shall cause a great earthquake in the land, and devours Gog's army.

Ezekiel 38:18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. 19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; 20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

We also find this earthquake in Revelation 6.

Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

Like I have said before, sixth seal is Gog/Magog. Back to the topic, when the earthquake Amos mentions is prophetic, it may very well point to "the earthquake" in Ezekiel 38:19 and Revelation 6:12, during Gog's invasion against Israel. God causes the earthquake and uses it to devour Gog's army.

Take this timeline for example. The fourth transgression happens in this summer. Amos prophesies there will be an earthquake two years after the fourth transgression. Two years are this, 2020 is the 1st year, with 2021 is the 2nd year. Two years points to 2021 being the year a great earthquake shall occur in the land of Israel, caused by God, when Gog leads a large army against Israel. This also places rapture in 2021, followed by Gog/Magog in the same year. Having said this , I believe this is the reason why Amos prophesies a great earthquake after the fourth transgression. God wants us to know that after we see the fourth transgression, be prepared for the rapture, because He shall cause a great earthquake in the land, two years later ( with 1st year and 2nd year inclusive), to punish Gog's army when they gather against Israel, and trespass His land.

2020 Summer, Fourth transgression, the 1st year in Amos' two years before the earthquake

2021 Spring Rapture, Immediate after rapture, Gog together with Iran and Turkey invades Israel , this is the 2nd year and the final year in Amos' two years before the earthquake. God causes a great earthquake in the land, to devour Gog's army.

The two years are 2020 and 2021.

I just finished praying to God, and asked for more wisdom to understand His end time plan. And this is what I got regarding the two years in Amos 1.

Or...maybe when Amos was compiling his prophecies into a book, he wanted to tell everybody it was delivered "two years before the earthquake."  I don't see any reason to think the original version of it was dated two years before a coming event.

I'll even accept that these prophecies might have a latter day fulfillment, in addition to a short-term application.  That happens sometimes.

I remembered back in 2009, I was the first one to link the three transgressions to 1948 Independence War, 1967 Six Days war and 1973 Yom Kippur war. I don't recall if anyone was ahead of me in linking them to the three wars since 1948. Anyway, Amos was the 8th century prophet. The places he names nowadays occupied by Israel's enemies. Gaza is where Hamas is. Tyrus is where Hezbollah is. There was no Hamas until Israel granted them autonomy some 18 years ago. There was no Hezbollah until the 1982 war when Israel drove the Palestinians to south Lebanon. And from history we couldn't find the three transgressions occurred, lest to say there was a fourth transgression against Judah from a coalition of the places named by Amos. Having said this, Amos 1-2 the fourth transgression is for future fulfillment, while the three transgressions have been fulfilled. If the 4th transgression happens in this summer, I am very confident it shall be followed by rapture next year, and then Gog/Magog when God strikes them with a huge earthquake.

The sequence of 4th transgression comes first, and then the earthquake in Gog/Magog also goes in line with the sequence of events in Zechariah 11-12. I have mentioned there are 4 events in Zechariah 11 up to Zechariah 12:2-9. They are three shepherds war, rapture, appearance of Anti Christ and Gog/Magog in Zechariah 12:2-9.

Since the accomplice in the 4th transgression are the same in three shepherds, basically the 4th transgression is the same war as the three shepherds war. This war precedes Gog/Magog, with rapture in between.

Concerning the timing of the fourth transgression, God has left us a clue in Isaiah 16 and Jeremiah 48.

Isaiah 16:8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.

9 Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.

Jeremiah 48:32 O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.

Isaiah 16 and Jeremiah 48 are the oracles against Moab which is Jordan. Key words are " for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen" and "the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.".

"Summer fruits are fallen". It places the fall of Jordan in summer. And since Jordan is one of the accomplice in the 4th transgression, the 4th transgression against Israel shall happen in summer, very likely this summer.

Because of Isaiah 16:8-9 and Jeremiah 48:32, I always believe the 4th transgression/ three shepherds war/ Psalm 83 and destruction of Damascus Isaiah 17:1-2 shall take place in summer.

"the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.”.

Vintage and grape harvest always takes place between July and September, with September the fullest. I believe the war shall begin in early summer, and intensifies until September. September is the time we see the fall of Jordan, together with Syria, Hamas, and Hezbollah.
