39% of US believes we are currently in the end-of-times, Pew survey suggests: 47% of Christians believed we are at the end of time. For Christians, the end of days marks the imminent return of Jesus. This is further divided along sectarian lines. 76% of Black Christians believe we are currently in the end of times and 63% of evangelical Protestants believe this to be true. 10% of Americans believe this will happen in their lifetime. 49% of Christians say we are not living in the end times, including 70% of Catholics and 65% of mainline Protestants. When asked if Jesus “will return to Earth someday,” more than half of all U.S. adults (55%), including three-quarters of Christians, say this will happen. Protestants in the evangelical (92%) and historically Black (86%) traditions are more likely than other Christians to say there will eventually be a second coming of Jesus. Roughly four-in-ten Americans either do not believe Jesus will return to Earth (25%) or say they do not believe in Jesus (16%). Rabbi Eyal Riess of the Tzfat Kabbalah Centre noted that the basic understanding of the end of days in connection with the “apocalypse” is counter to Jewish eschatology. “We do not have a tradition of doomsday or Armageddon,” Rabbi Riess said. “In Jewish tradition, the concept of what happens after the Messiah, at the end of days is entirely positive with no negative connotations. The world will not end because of global warming or a terrorist attack. God loves His creation and no one may destroy what God loves.” “We think it will be a return to Eden but it will be so much better than that because there will be no descent, no leaving of the garden,” Rabbi Riess said. The numbers speak loudly! Jesus is coming! I imagine such was the case with His first coming as well! Nothing new under the sun! TR It will happen in my lifetime! So I am in the 10%! "49% of Christians say we are not living in the end times" Really? After everything that is happening in this world? It's really getting worse! Satan has blinded them. True that! Sadly it speaks to the notion that many simply don't want to be with Jesus as their hearts are elsewhere! Having an entity we call God who created space, time and all of creation would seem to me to beg wanting to know all about Him! Let alone become His friend! There is a huge disconnect in this regard that I simply can't understand! Adding to that, not being able to say thank you to Him for all His mighty love and many blessings! Sure life is at times tough, but at least we are here and then destined to spend eternity with Him should we answer His call for a divine romance and relationship! Go figure! TR
