To begin my thought, let's find out in which year Exodus took place.

1 Kings 6 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.

Solomon began his reign in 970 BC. His fourth year is 966 BC. And there have been 480 years between Exodus and 966 BC. Adding 480 years to 966 BC,we come to 1446 BC as the year Exodus took place.

Exodus 12:40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelled in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.

Now that we know Exodus took place in 1446 B.C. If we can put together this 430 years gap to 1446 B.C., then we should know where we are since Adam. I have attached a commentary from Benson.

Benson commentary:

Exodus 12:40. Who dwelt in Egypt — Or sojourned. We must observe, that it is not said, The sojourning of the children of Israel in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years; but the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt — That is, the sojourning of the Israelitish nation, from the time that Abraham left his native country to sojourn in Canaan, to the release of his posterity, who were long sojourners in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.

End of quote

I agree with Benson except that I believe the sojourning of children of Israel in Canaan begin with Jacob's birth. God only sees Jacob and his descendants are the children of Israel, not Issac nor Abraham because they also begat Ishmael and Esau. And God has also changed the name of Jacob to Israel.

From Adam to the birth of Abraham, there are 1948 years. Abraham begat Issac when he was 100 years old. So Issac was born in year 2048. Issac begat Jacob when he was 60 years old. So Jacob was born in year 2108 after Adam. And I believe 2108 is the year sojourning of children of Israel in Canaan began.

And from Exodus 12:40 we learn that the number of years of their sojourning in Canaan and their time spent in Egypt is 430 years. Here is the calculation.

Adding 430 years to 2108, we come to 2538 years from Adam. Exodus took place this year, and it also happened to be 1446 BC. To calculate the years we are from Adam, we have the following,

2538 +1446 BC + 2019 (2020 -1, there is no 0 in AD) = 6003

We are 6003 years from creation of Adam. Giving the fact that we don't know the month and the exact day Adam and his descendants were born, this is an approximate calculation, could be varied by few years. Any way, I believe 6000 years is over. Next shall come the millennium. But before that, God shall unleash 7 years tribulation in order to find out who is worthy to go into the millennium.

Jewish calendar shows this year as 5780. Why is there a discrepancy close to 200 years?

It is because they denied their Messiah has already come based on Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy. They altered the interpretation to deny Jesus has come. Below is how they twisted the 70 weeks prophecy.

Quote:

[ This is how Daniel 9:24-26 should be correctly translated and understood:

24) Seventy weeks (490 years) are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies.
25) Know therefore and discern that from the issuing of a word to restore and rebuild Jerusalem (starting from its destruction) until an anointed Prince (Cyrus) will be seven weeks (49 years) and then for sixty-two weeks (434 years) it will be built again with plaza and moat but in troubled times. (Persian, Greek and Roman domination)
26) Then after the sixty-two weeks (483 years from the destruction of the first Temple) an anointed one (sacrifices, last Jewish priest and king) will be cut off and will be no more, and the people of the prince (Romans) who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. (in the 70th week 490 years from the destruction of the first Temple) ]

End of quote.

They believe the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem began from the destruction of first temple. From the destruction to the anointed prince Cyrus, there were 49 years. After Cyrus appeared, there were 434 years (sixty two weeks) to rebuild Jerusalem in troublous time. Then after this 434 years, an anointed one whom they interpret as their last Jewish priest and the last king would be cutoff by the Roman soldiers. They believe the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD wrapped up the last week/70th week. This is how they construct their timeline.

They took 70 AD, work 483 years backward, and come to 414 BCE as the destruction of the first temple, while many historians and bible scholars believe the destruction of Solomon's temple occurred in 586 BC. Between 586 BC and 414 BCE, there is a shortfall of 172 years in their history. Even up to today, they still keep insisting the destruction of Solomon temple occurred in 414 BCE.. This rebellious nation, when will they learn their Messiah Jesus has already come?
