Some people are like this now! :bible

Joel 3:13-16 New King James Version (NKJV)

13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.
Come, go down;
For the winepress is full,
The vats overflow—
For their wickedness is great.”
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
15 The sun and moon will grow dark,
And the stars will diminish their brightness.
16 The Lord also will roar from Zion,
And utter His voice from Jerusalem;
The heavens and earth will shake;
But the Lord will be a shelter for His people,
And the strength of the children of Israel.

Micah 7:1-7 New King James Version (NKJV)

7 Woe is me!
For I am like those who gather summer fruits,
Like those who glean vintage grapes;
There is no cluster to eat
Of the first-ripe fruit which my soul desires.
2 The faithful man has perished from the earth,
And there is no one upright among men.
They all lie in wait for blood;
Every man hunts his brother with a net.

3 That they may successfully do evil with both hands—
The prince asks for gifts,
The judge seeks a bribe,
And the great man utters his evil desire;
So they scheme together.
4 The best of them is like a brier;
The most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge;
The day of your watchman and your punishment comes;
Now shall be their perplexity.
5 Do not trust in a friend;
Do not put your confidence in a companion;
Guard the doors of your mouth
From her who lies in your bosom.
6 For son dishonors father,
Daughter rises against her mother,
Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.
7 Therefore I will look to the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation;
My God will hear me.

2 Timothy 3 New King James Version (NKJV)
3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

Who are the "Jannes and Jambres" of our time, that creep into houses?  They are those who claim to manifest the power of God, doing signs and wonders similar to what Moses did before Pharaoh, yet their imitation miracles come with teachings that are lies.  I have sometimes wondered if this role might be fulfilled by TV and Internet preachers who seem to have tremendous support among those who do not carefully study the Word and believe every wind of doctrine that blows through.

I agree.  When my mom was sick with cancer I was watching a few “Christian” tv shows that bragged their followers received healing.  So I called their hot-line of 3 popular healing programs and guess what ... when I asked them for prayer the first things they said was ... we need your credit card first.  I said I don’t have that kind of money to spare.  They said no money, no prayers.  Only 1 preacher on tv .. his wife personally prayed over my mom with me over the phone and never once asked for a dime.  I was expressed with their ministry and sadden by the other fakers.

This passage comes to my mind for those who demanded money ...

Matt 7:22-23

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Oops ... I meant to say “I was impressed with their ministry” ... not sure how “expressed” found its way into that sentence  ... LOL

That made me think of the "revival" in Florida many years ago, where the (odd) preacher Todd Bentley, claimed gold dust from heaven was coming down on them. Claimed healing by kicking a woman in the face and knocking out another man's tooth.

Indeed false teachers abound, teaching for gain.  Sad that so many have found it necessary to make a living off the stripes of Christ's back!

And the Lord himself shall surely deal with the false prophets of today.  For He is hardly pleased by any of them!  They who speak promises that even God doesn't intend to honor!

For many are the afflictions of the righteous, and even so it is appointed for all men to die the first death.  Sadly, many teach otherwise.

Even after 50 yrs of exposed fraud, many still choose to buy into the premise that we must "prove" our faith to God, by giving a stranger $1000.00 dollars.  (Seed Faith)!  Seems that the Lord has His own ways to see our faith!

Lastly, we are warned in the gospels that if any cry out lo He is in the desert, or here or there, do not chase out after such claims.  For does not the Spirit of the living God already abide within us?!  Yet many who are poor in spirit, chase after teachers and their teachings!

It is disconcerting how little discernment is applied by the Church of today!  Even in our most desperate hours, we need to seek Him out, and Him alone.

We must learn to let our love, faith and trust in God, challenge Him to act on our behalves!  Not the empty promises of men.  Cry Or so it seems to me!

Or as a wise man has said, stupid is as stupid does!

"14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision."

I have always found this verse to be haunting.  As the gospel is preached to the whole world, probably a few convert, but what is left is multitudes who haven't made up their mind.  Scary when the coming of the Lord has got to be so near.

I went to bingo last weekend and met a lady who was originally from Croatia.  I asked her if she was a Christian and she said , "yes".  Then I asked her if she thought the Lord was coming soon and found she didn't believe any of that and in fact didn't go to church.   Though she was Greek Orthodox she did not believe that Christ was risen.  I assured there were many witnesses to the fact.  She remarked she really only believed in the law of Karma.  So interesting that she didn't seem to have any Christian beliefs, yet claimed to be Christian!  "Multitudes in the valley of decision. . ."

She told me her name in Croatian meant "soul".  My name is Sharon and I said to her when you add "Rose of" to it, it means "Christ".  I encouraged her to go back to church this coming Easter and maybe to watch on TV the many shows about the life of Christ that accompany Eastertime.  I pray for her.
