A Ukrainian guy came to our agency for help. He was seeing one of my colleagues but she couldn't come to the office. I was told he needs help applying for social assistance and find food banks. I called social assistance and did a phone application, his English is not very good so I had to simplify the language when he could not understand the question from the intake worker. Finally she asked: do you identify as male or female?

I can't describe exactly how I felt: here is a guy who has just come from a war torn country, his family is still in the Ukraine, he knows nothing about this country, no money, who knows what he has been through and here we are in North America obsessed with do you consider yourself a man or a woman or............

he looked at me. He did not understand what she was saying. I was quiet for a few seconds then asked him in simpler English if he considers himself a man or a woman. He said: man.

What a world! What a mess!

They are probably asking because just in case they need to place him in a shelter … they probably fear of being sued if he considers himself as “female”.  I know its crazy …

Oh did you hear of this case … April 14, 2022 … at an all-women’s NJ prison 2 women have fallen pregnant after having relations with transgender inmates. ?

You're right, Geri.

I am always uncomfortable asking people if they consider themselves male or female.

thankfully, a family has taken him in for now. Afterwards, he might be able to rent a room somewhere. he seems to be hard working, he will be looking for work soon.

Sean Osborne - April  27, 2022 at 9:02 AM

A Russian military ammo depot in Staraya Nelidovka, Belgorod Oblast has been hit by Ukraine. Several explosions and now the entire facility is ablaze.

Ukrainian forces in the Donbas are holding firm.

April  27, 2022 at 11:14 AM

It has been revealed that M270 and M142 HIMARS (universal tracked launchers capable of firing everything: starting from unguided missiles to tactical ATACMS ballistic missiles) were provided to Ukraine by the US.

The M142 and M270 HIMARS went into action against invading Russian forces in the Donbas last week with a devastating effect.

And from “Now the End Begins”

Macron … is arming Ukraine with 6 x 6 Caesar Cannon Guns …

Since Russia’s Feb. 24 invasion, Macron had kept an open line with Putin. But the horrors discovered by Ukrainian troops as they retook control of villages near Kyiv once Russian soldiers withdrew gave Macron pause. His office said last week that the two leaders haven’t spoken since March 29. Macron says that, eventually, he’ll need to pick up the phone again — because not talking to Putin will allow the leaders of China, India and Turkey to take the lead in trying to negotiate the peace, whenever that time comes.

We’ll have to prepare a cease-fire at some stage, and Europe will have to be around the table,” Macron said last week.  In the meantime, French weapons will do some of the talking — in hopes of adding to the pressure on Putin.

“The best way to have successful talks is to have successful Ukrainians throwing back the Russian invasion,” said François Heisbourg, a French analyst on defense and security questions at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

The Caesars will allow their crews to go hunting for Russian artillery pieces being used in eastern Ukraine that are indiscriminately pummeling civilian targets.

‘Blackmail’: Russia Shuts off Gas to EU States Poland, Bulgaria, Energy Prices Soar on News:

The Russian government has halted all gas exports to Poland and Bulgaria after, they say, a deadline passed for the nations to pay for gas in Russian roubles rather than western currency.

Sources with the Polish government and the Polish Oil and Gas Industry (PGNiG) claimed that Russia has halted all gas supplies to the country Tuesday night, with the stoppage of transmission confirmed Wednesday morning amid a war of words between Moscow and European capitals.

Wholesale gas prices soared a fifth in Europe on the news, communicating both the shortages the reduction of imports resemble, as well as market uncertainty. Several European nations are heavily dependent on Russian gas, notably Germany.  The European Union has called the suspension of gas deliveries “blackmail."

Criticizing Russia for the move, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Russia was attempting to blackmail the bloc. She said: “unilaterally stopping delivery of gas to customers in Europe is yet another attempt by Russia to use gas as an instrument of blackmail."

“This is unjustified and unacceptable. And it shows once again the unreliability of Russia as a gas supplier.”

Italy to Start Rationing Energy to ‘Support Ukraine’:

From next month onwards, Italy will begin rationing electricity to ‘support Ukraine’, with public buildings banned from running air conditioning at lower than 25 degrees or heating higher than 19 degrees.  Yes, really.

The plan is being dubbed ‘Operation Thermostat’ and is being hailed as the example for Italians to follow in their own private homes.

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi promoted the campaign by asking, “Do we want to have peace or do we want to have the air conditioning on?”

Presumably, the ‘price of peace’ is now a permanent reduction in your quality of life.

“I’m not exactly sure how adjusting your thermostat is going to achieve ‘peace’, but hey we’re living in the age of sentimental manipulation over reason, so – just believe,” comments Kit Knightly.
