I found this video on one of my many rabbit trails and thought it was interesting. It's about Sodom & Gomorrah and though not necessarily about "end times", though that is brought up, it's more focused on the physical remains of these cities. The video is shot on site in what is believed to be Sodom. It is just shy of 30 minutes.

Many are teaching that Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed because of sexual sins, but rather for inhospitality!

Yet their destruction by the hand of the Lord still teaches them nothing.

Indeed as Billy Graham has stated, that if America is not judged for their sins, God would truly have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.  A sobering thought indeed!

Waving the flag is fine but there's a more pressing issue with regards to America!  Kinda like saluting the flag on the Titanic as she is sinking!

Very informative video!  I love how they were able to pick the sulfur balls out of the walls and then light them and they still burn.

I think perhaps Lot and his wife didn’t want to leave the city because most of their family members wanted to stay.  This could be why his wife perhaps looked back.  But I can’t for the life of me understand why Lot would offer his daughters to those wicked men.  Just very strange behavior.

Who can know Lot's line of thinking when he offered his two daughters as opposed to letting the Angels fend for themselves?  Obviously human nature and thought are showcased, as well as a great lack of spiritual maturity and trust in God, rather than being led by the Spirit!

But we often try to appear as being more spiritual than we really are.  And we present ourselves before the Lord in the most complimentary light as possible.  Been there, done that!  I can relate with Lot, while not agreeing with his actions.  The motivations of Lot's wife also seem to be easily understood.  Asked to foresake all that was familiar and loved by her, was simply just too great.

But what is even more reprehensible was the actions of Lot's daughters.   Being familiar with story of Noah and the flood, did they really think that God was destroying all of mankind?  Or were they so obsessed with bearing children, that even in supposed fear of the destruction of man they needed to be impregnated by any means possible?  I don't buy it!

Lastly, given they were raised in sexual wickedness, were they motivated by their own lusts!?

There are many lessons we can learn from the story of Lot and his family, and many possible comparisons!  Firstly, Lot was no Abraham, or shadow of Christ!  Secondly, the lack of spiritual maturity can be personally costly.  Thirdly, without being born again, no one can weather the storms of life.

Lastly, when we compare the lifestyles and moray's of those days with the of the days that we live in, we are being given a clarion call!!!

And the idea of angels assisting and leading us from destruction speaks volumes as well!

Lot may have understood that there was no harm in offering his daughters. He probably knew what their appetites were. It’s no different than today. Homosexuals would no more desire someone from the opposite sex than straight people would those of the same sex. Bad form by our standards today but perhaps not so much so in that moment given the strenuous situation. Also, not knowing the customs of the times makes it difficult to understand his reasoning. How strong a sense of duty to protect ones guests, we do not know. Either way, it would have been interesting to hear the daughters thoughts on it. Lot was walking in and in love with a world that had seriously rejected God. He was compromised. It shows in his hesitation to do what he was warned to do. Even when he left he didn’t go where he was told to go. It is a great example of trying to follow God and still being a part of the world system.

Ok ... I re-read the story of Lot .... Interesting he at first was living in the plains near Zoar and pitched his tent towards Sodom and then the next thing .... he is living in Sodom.  So no wonder while fleeing the city he wanted to go back to familiar surroundings of Zoar but then quickly fled to the mountain region for safety.  Its like us though reminiscing and perhaps longing for our old familiar dwelling places (beach house/vacation home in the woods, etc) that we grew up in ... especially if they were fun times.

Since he had daughters that married ... chances are they are the ones who wanted to relocate into Sodom and they must of had children so I can now see how Lot and his wife relocated into the city to be closer to them and perhaps the ratio of gays at that time wasn’t a high number?  The fact the Lord would have spared the cities from judgement if there were only 10 righteous people .... I guess we can assume his daughters and son-in-laws and grandkids were not saved and they mocked when they heard the warning that the city was going to be destroyed.

Abraham was in his 90’s so Lot must have been around 70’s - 80’s so no wonder the gays didn’t bother him. The 2 angels that came to visit Lot and to give out the warning and to direct them out of the city ... had to be young and handsome looking.  Perhaps like the angel that I saw in the elevator.  He had platinum blond hair and fabulous tan.  Extremely good looking so I can visualize all the gays of Sodom, “compasses the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter” and banging on Lot’s door.  The angels literally had to blind them ... “and they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great:  so that they wearied themselves to find the door”.  LOL what a sight that must have been to see them all wondering around like zombies ...

Yeah I can see how Lot’s wife would have looked back ... worrying about her unsaved daughters, son-in-laws and perhaps grandchildren.

Since one of the daughters son became the Moabite nation ... wasn’t that the lineage of Ruth?  Do you think her bloodline links in with Lot?

Also wondering after the rapture, how quickly will it take before the entire world will deteriorate to likeness of Sodom and Gomorrah days.  We already are getting a foretaste glimpse and its vexing us greatly but sadly we know its going to get a whole lot worse for the left behind folks ...

Yes Geri7, there will either be great vexation of soul like Lot experienced or many will be overcome by the evil and wickedness of their own hearts!

Sad indeed that we all are headed in the same direction of Sodom & Gomorrah!  The heart of man is continually evil, who can know it!  The world is truly at a momentous crossroads.

Between Noah's day and Lot's day, the world has always managed to self denigrate!  I wouldn't want to be left behind, for sure!  It is then no wonder why I glory in the love the saints share with one another!

In 2 Peter2 the scripture refers to Sodom & Gomorrah & Lot --in verse 7-8 :" and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked ( for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds--" The rest of the chapter  goes into detail regarding

the results  of evil life styles!!!
