I am sure all here are familiar with the tyrannical draconian government control of peoples lives in Australia and more recently in Austria.  Both show what happens when "benign" socialism runs a country, particularly in the name of "COVID lockdowns."
I remember some years ago at a RNC convention hearing Arnold Swartzenager speak saying that he was so glad to have the liberties and freedoms that he did not have in his native socialist Austria. Now, I may differ with Arnold on some things, but I think he was sounding an alarm that we in the USA need to heed. So many countries are socialist masquerading as democracies.  Socialism is a wolf in sheep's clothing that is being primed for the AC takeover of the world.

The good news may be that the socialists "democrats" in Congress particularly the House will be loosing their majority big time next November, and maybe the majority in both houses. But we may be taken up before then. :yahoo:

They are already predicting a 70-99 seat sweep in the mid terms.

Canada is effectively a socialist country. The government is comprised of hard left leaning liberals propped up by socialists. *Ugh* My province I am in has a socialist leader. *Double ugh*

There is a old saying, everyone is a socialist at 20 but a conservative at 40. Socialism promises the moon and is attractive to young, idealistic people but when reality sets in (you get married and have children/have a career, etc ) you find out that it simply doesn't work.

Mind you, every man lead system of government is bound to fail. It's only when Jesus returns to this earth that we will have good government. :good:

My nephew was a liberal in college. Six months after he graduated and had a  job he became a conservative. He said he wasn’t paying for some lazy bum who didn’t want to work.

Well looks like the vote on the $1,750,000,000,000 social spending bill is going to get rail roaded through the process tonight (Thursday).   I miss the old days - and look forward to every day for eternity in Heaven.  Lord get us out of this place.

I am in my 70's now, but I can remember when I first had a real job at 22 in 1970. I entertained the idea that we should become a socialist country. How I changed we I heard Ronald Reagan speak and I became a conservative in 1976.

In 1966 and  1967,  I was a freshman in a small liberal arts college.  As part of our freshman orientation we had to come to these discussion groups.  One of the books we read and discussed was called "Walden II."  It was about a fictional society where everyone was supposed to do any job regardless of their education.  It was not about different and equal; It was about everyone had to be the same.  This was supposed to be a Methodist affiliated college and one of the required courses was to either take Old or New Testament.  I took Old Testament and the professor was super liberal.  He taught that the entire book of Genesis was pure myth, that Genesis thru Chronicles was written by an unknown man known as the "Deuteronomic Redactor."  I. like most students there, fell for all this. I heard from one student I knew that he was told things in the New Testament course that made him loose what faith he had.  I only went there my freshman year.

So, you are right; we do change significantly from when we are in our teens and twenties to later when we get some gray hair and some head wisdom.

I used to laugh when Archie Bunker on "All in the Family' would sing "didn't need no welfare state, those were the days" Not funny now; the welfare state is real and is called socialism.

I had my hair cut today.  My hairdresser spoke of escaping a communist country (Vietnam) to come to start a new life of freedom in America.  She told me that now she sees our U.S.A. turning toward socialism/communism.  This is exactly what happened to her land, she says.  It's very sad.

Take over the schools and the churches and you take over the country. They’ve done a great job at doing both.

The far left socialists would have you believe that Nazism was a far right system of government- WRONG.   Nazism was far left socialism just as much as Lenin and Stalin's communism.  The big difference was that Hitler's socialism was national socialism whereas soviet socialism was intended to be international socialism.

I tried to explain to my far left leaning socialist sister in California that socialism, Marxism, and communism are all the same thing.  And all result in the same failures and misery for their peoples, and the only ones who prosper are the few elites and leaders at the top who prosper off the labor of the masses.  Communism/socialism all look good on paper from the ivy covered halls of a university or some book written by the likes of Karl Marx, but it never works once you are in the real world.
