Five Doves, Alan Clark (3 Aug 2026) How The Most ‘Informed’ Generation In Human History Also Became The Most Susceptible To Deception: We live in the most informed generation in human history, yet many would argue we are also the most confused. Never before has so much information been available with just the touch of a screen. Every minute, millions of videos are uploaded, articles are published, opinions are shared, and headlines race around the world before most people have even finished breakfast. Ironically, as information has exploded, confidence in what is actually true has steadily declined. Many Americans consume news through social media, online videos, podcasts, streaming platforms, and digital news feeds. Traditional newspapers and nightly television broadcasts no longer dominate public conversation. Instead, algorithms determine much of what people see. Stories compete for clicks instead of accuracy. Emotion often triumphs over evidence. Opinion is frequently presented as fact. Today’s challenge is not simply misinformation. It is the existence of competing versions of reality. Two people can watch the same event unfold and walk away believing entirely different things because they consumed different sources of information. The Bible repeatedly warns that deception will characterize the last days. satan’s first recorded words in Scripture reveal his method. “Has God indeed said…?” (Genesis 3:1). Notice he did not begin with violence. He began by questioning truth. He planted doubt. He distorted God’s words. He redefined reality. Artificial intelligence now produces realistic images, convincing videos, cloned voices, and entirely fabricated interviews. Deepfake technology continues to improve at astonishing speed. Paul writes concerning those who reject God’s truth: “…they did not receive the love of the truth… And for this reason, God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie” (2 Thessalonians 2:10–11). Notice the progression. Reject truth. Accept deception. Believe the lie. This environment encourages confirmation bias instead of careful investigation. Followers of Christ should resist becoming captive to any echo chamber, whether political, cultural, or religious. Our loyalty belongs first to Christ and His Word. Jesus commanded us to watch. But watching involves more than observing world events. It requires guarding our hearts against deception. Believers should become people whose minds are shaped more by Scripture than by social media, more by prayer than by podcasts, and more by the Holy Spirit than by public opinion.
