Pope Francis: ‘I Like to Think of Hell as Empty’:

ROME — Pope Francis said this week he believes in hell but likes to think of it as “empty” because of God’s great mercy.

“What I will say is not a dogma of faith but something personal,” the pontiff said Sunday evening on the Italian television program Che Tempo Che Fa.

“I like to think of hell as empty; I hope it is,” he told the show’s host, Fabio Fazio.

This is not the first time the pope’s hypotheses on hell have raised a stir. Asked by Scalfari [the Pope's friend], an atheist, about the punishment of the “bad” souls of people who died in sin, Pope Francis is quoted as denying hell.

“They are not punished. Those who repent obtain God’s forgiveness and enter the rank of the souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent, and cannot therefore be forgiven, disappear,” he allegedly said. “There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls.”

If “you believe everyone is getting to Heaven regardless of how they live here on earth,” wrote Eric Sammons, the editor-in-chief of Crisis Magazine, “then the importance of both practicing the Faith and sharing it with others collapses.”

Some have suggested that the pope’s emphasis on social and political issues such as immigration and climate change rather than the salvation of souls is influenced by his belief that all or most people are saved anyway.

Pope Francis has urged Christians not to try to convert non-believers to the faith, insisting that such “proselytism” is the work of hucksters and unworthy of Christians.  Asked by one of the students how a Christian should treat people of other faiths, the pope said that “we are all the same, all children of God” and that true disciples of Jesus do not proselytize.

“The last thing I should do is to try to convince an unbeliever. Never,” he said. “The last thing I should do is speak. I should live my faith with consistency. And it will be my witness that will awaken the curiosity of the other who may then ask: ‘But why do you do this?’ And yes, then I can speak.”

Muslim Students Form Sharia Patrols, Enforce Islamic Law in German Schools, Violators Face Stoning and Torture:

In the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, a high school in Neuss grapples with a troubling trend as self-appointed Muslim students form Islamic Sharia Patrols, advocating stoning, torture, mandatory hijab-wearing, and gender segregation, reflecting a rejection of democratic values and prompting law enforcement involvement, while tracing its roots back to earlier incidents of Sharia enforcement in Germany and the influence of radical adults.

In the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, a troubling trend has emerged within a high school in Neuss. A group of Muslim students operating as self-appointed Islamic Sharia Patrols has unleashed a wave of intimidation, extremism, and radicalism that has sent shockwaves through the educational community. This alarming situation not only highlights the anti-Western nature of their demands but also raises questions about the roots and direction of this disturbing trend in Germany.

The group of senior Muslim students, aged between 17 and 19, has openly advocated for Sharia measures within their school. Their demands include stoning as a form of punishment, promoting torture, enforcing mandatory hijab-wearing for women and girls, and insisting on gender segregation during swimming lessons, even for teachers.

These students have also pressed for additional requirements, such as women covering themselves, early dismissal for Muslim students on Fridays for prayer, and extending gender segregation to teachers during swimming lessons. Alongside these demands, they allegedly pressured and harassed fellow students deemed as “bad Muslims.”

Compounding the problem is the state’s reluctance to take decisive action against such groups, allowing the Sharia patrols to operate with impunity. In the past, a German court ruled that a group of Islamists, operating as the “Sharia Police” in the city of Wuppertal in 2014, did not break the law in forming these street patrols and harassing people to stop drinking, gambling, listening to music, and engaging in other activities. The court’s decision sparked public outrage, but prosecutors struggled to build a case against them. The city’s district court ruled that the accused members of the group did not breach a ban on political uniforms when they approached people while wearing orange vests bearing the words “Sharia Police.”

Wow, one would think that a decent knowledge of scripture would be required of someone who is the head of the Catholic church.....but apparently not even close.

Jesus said...."wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it." Matthew 7 13.14

"Many will say to me in that day....Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in Your name, cast our devils and done many wonderful works? and He will say unto them, depart from Me, you who work iniquity for I never knew you" also Matthew 7.

It is His will that all will come to repentance but that must include our choice to follow Him in faith. I would imagine that it makes Him sad that not all will choose Him, but if Heaven was without cost, then Jesus would not have had to come take our punishment on the Cross.

The pope will lead many towards that broad road and be accountable for it, God will not be mocked.
