When Zohran Mamdani was running for mayor of New York City, he repeatedly talked about freezing the rent. Voters heard this and thought it meant that if Mamdani was mayor, their rent would go down. That’s not how the real world works, but that’s what people heard. In a sense, they heard what they wanted to hear. Mamdani knew all of this but he kept talking about it anyway. Now he has been in office for six months and rents in New York City just hit an all-time high. The New York Post reports: The city’s housing crisis has hit “DefCon 1” — with average rents for a one-bedroom in Manhattan hitting an all-time high of nearly $5,500 last month, and Brooklyn following suit, according to new data and critics. “We need bold action. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche received the letter on Thursday morning after it was revealed that a senior Mamdani official attempted to organize an unauthorized meeting with a high-ranking member of the Iranian regime while the country remains at war with the United States. “The Department of Justice needs to look into Mamdani’s office and ensure they are not acting as rogue agents to the detriment of America’s national security,” the congressman continued. “Mamdani does not speak for America. During his nearly 26-minute speech, the president announced declassified findings of China compromising U.S. voter rolls, noncitizens on voter rolls, vulnerabilities in electronic voting and ballot-counting systems, and an election fraud investigation in Michigan after the 2020 election that was allegedly slow-walked by the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ). During his speech, President Trump accused the Chinese government of seeking to “identify U.S. journalists who had reported negatively on the U.S. president and pay them large sums of money to write more negative articles about him, as many as they could and they didn’t care what they said.” “The Chinese government wanted the U.S. president to lose the next election,” the 45th and 47th president said.
