Exodus 12:2 reads, “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.” Nisan 1 is the first of that first month from then on, and prior to that I believe the years began in the Fall - Tishri 1. Nisan 10 in Exodus 12, was for the taking and adopting of a Passover lamb for one family. That's the same day of the year of the Triumphal Entry. Nisan 14 when the lamb was slaughtered is of course Passover. Leviticus 23 mentions the first three -- Passover, unleavened bread, firstfruits in sequence -- then fourth, the feast of weeks. The feast of trumpets, also known as Rosh Hashanah meaning "Head of the Year" is the fifth, with the Day of Atonement and Tabernacles being the sixth and seventh feasts.
