I recently went through an excellent detailed comparison of these two teachings of Jesus before His Ascension. It turns out, because the Jewish rejected Jesus as their Messiah, The Olivet Discourse in Matt. 24-25 is all about Jesus then temporarily saying goodbye to Judaism and their First Covenant, in order to make way for God's operation through The Church Age. In The Olivet, He speaks entirely about the impending destruction of The Temple and Jerusalem as the seat of God's action on Earth, and of the Seven Year Tribulation placed upon Israel to bring them to Christ. In the Discourse, He actually spoke nothing about The Church or The Rapture. In comparison, The Upper Room Discourse in John 13-17 is all about the coming Church Age of Grace, and the Rapture at the end of the Age occurring after the pattern of a Jewish Wedding, with the Church being His Bride. Believing Israel will be the Bride's attendants, typified by the Ten Virgins. "Olivet." Sorry. This is very interesting. Thanks for posting this.

I am giving this here to state that it is a misuse of Matt. 24-25 by Christians to think that The Olivet Discourse has anything to do with The Church in the End Times, or with the Rapture, and that the Upper Room Discourse is a foundation for all of the rest of the New Testament. A great amount of Scripture which has always puzzled me now makes very good sense.
