Well this is an interesting turn of events as well. BAM sudden destruction kicks in ... Having worked in ICU for about 20 plus years, I can tell you, we can keep the body alive for a very long time. I have had to do this for organ harvesting for donors. The brain can be gone. Between the vent, cardiac drips, and warming blankets (hypothermia) as the body tries to assume room temperature, we keep the body cooler, but not quite at death cold. This also preserves the more fragile tissues, such as skin, eyes, so forth. An EEG measures brain activity and just like a cardiac rhythm, a flat line is no good, life has left the building.
