Atlantic Writer Claims the Rosary is an Extremist Symbol for Christian Nationalists:

Atlantic contributor Daniel Panneton has published an op-ed in which he claimed that the rosary is now a symbol of extremism.  The rosary, of course, is a string of beads or knots that are used by Catholics as they do a series of prayers.

In the article titled, “How the Rosary Became an Extremist Symbol,” Panneton claimed that “just as the AR-15 rifle has become a sacred object for Christian nationalists in general, the rosary has acquired a militaristic meaning for radical-traditional (or ‘rad trad’) Catholics.”

Panneton claimed that “on this extremist fringe, rosary beads have been woven into a conspiratorial politics and absolutist gun culture. These armed radical traditionalists have taken up a spiritual notion that the rosary can be a weapon in the fight against evil and turned it into something dangerously literal.”

The writer claimed that "the rosary—in these hands—is anything but holy.”

CBS gets savaged for pushing study blaming climate change for childhood obesity: 'May be one of the dumbest things I've read in a while':

A recent segment from CBS promoting a study that linked childhood obesity to climate change was widely hammered and the TV network was accused of spreading "propaganda."

CBS Morning cited a study published in the journal Temperature. The study said that children are now 30% less aerobic fitness than their parents at the same age. The study's author argued that warming temperatures are making children less active – thus making them more obese.

The author of the study claimed, "As the Earth’s warming continues to accelerate, children are set to bear the health risk brunt of rising global temperatures."

The official Twitter account for CBS Mornings posted a video clip with the caption: "Today’s children are 30% less aerobically fit than their parents were at their age, a new study found. The study points to climate change and rising temperatures adversely affecting childhood obesity, as children spend less time exercising outdoors."

Update …I see they are trying to move the Halloween candy … their “GREAT” sale offer is 3 bags for $12.00 and the bags are definitely much smaller and each “fun” size piece they shrunk. 🙁    I’m not tempted.  I read most people are not buying candy nor the chips, Doritos,  pretzels, etc. since they are over priced and the games of the bag shrinkage.  People are being more selective and settling on 1 good dessert so sales remain steady for the ice cream … which is still reasonable.

Life finds a way: Scientists are planning to resurrect extinct Tasmanian tiger:

The Tasmanian tiger was a marsupial declared extinct in the 1930s. If one Dallas-based company has its way, that declaration will soon be reversed.

Colossal, a biotechnology “de-extinction” company, is working with scientists in Australia and the U.S. on a multimillion-dollar project to bring back the Tasmanian tiger — known formally as “thylacine” — and reintroduce it to its native land of Tasmania, reports the Guardian. Tasmania is an island state of Australia, located 150 miles south of the Australian mainland.

Colossal isn’t limiting itself to bringing back just one extinct species. The company made headlines last year when it revealed that it hoped to revive the woolly mammoth.

According to the Guardian, scientists plan to bring back the Tasmanian tiger by taking stem cells from a living species with similar DNA, the fat-tailed dunnart, and turning them into “thylacine” cells – or the closest approximation possible.

Colossal’s team is highly optimistic about its prospects. “I think it’s highly probable this could be the first animal we de-extinct,” said Ben Lamm, Colossal’s chief executive and other co-founder.
