[More about Abe:  As you may know, practically no one in Japan owns a gun.  In all of last year, only one person was shot in a country with half the population of the U.S.   I think this is as shocking to the Japanese as it was to us when JFK was killed.]

Witnesses: Onlookers Fainted as Japan’s Ex-PM Abe Shinzo Shot with ‘Bazooka’-Like Weapon:

Abe, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, died on Friday in the city of Nara after a man now identified as 41-year-old Yamagami Tetsuya shot him with what Japanese media indicate at press time appeared to be a homemade firearm. Doctors reported that Abe suffered cardiac arrest as a result of wounds in his neck. He was 67 years old.

Abe, of the long-ruling conservative Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), left a legacy of advocating for Japan to take on a larger international role, including expanding its minimal defense capabilities and investing in a closer relationship with America.

Shortly before his death, Abe spent much of his public time following his resignation [due to health reasons] in 2020 warning that the world must act to contain the threat of Chinese communism and urging America to expand its support for the nation of Taiwan, which China routinely threatens to invade. Chinese media outlets threatened “routine” military exercises around Japan as recently as Wednesday in response to the LDP’s concerns about Beijing’s belligerence.

Police have yet to reveal a motive for the shooting at press time, though Japanese newspapers report that Yamagami told police he intended to kill Abe because he was “dissatisfied” with his political performance.

Just a few comments on some of the posts above that I thought interesting and felt I wanted to comment on - Patricia N.  That is very interesting that the shooter of Shinzo Abe made a home made firearm, I had no idea.  Once again, why gun legislation is so futile, if a criminal wants a gun they will get one or make one.

So Ready - that’s quite an indictment of Shinzo Abe, still even if all those things are true, I stand by what I said earlier, vengeance belongs solely to the Lord and no one should die this way or see an assasination as justice - at least not a politician that has left office - that’s what doesn’t make sense, why now?  Abe was out of office and no longer a threat to anyone even if he was corrupt as all these accusations assert.

And back to Patricia N. other post - Such devious dirty rats in the world.  Falling back on the age old control the food control the population strategy. Which ties back into the other point I made on your other post, another reason to be careful of gun legislation - when they take your guns and control your food supply you are left with no choice at that point other than slavery.

Billboards Reading ‘Alaska Is Ours’ Pop Up In Russia:

In a rather suspiciously timed coincidence, several billboards reading “Alaska Is Ours” appeared in Siberia on Thursday, the day after State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin suggested Russia “take back” Alaska from the United States in retaliation for sanctions.

Volodin is the top man in the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, and a very aggressive ally of strongman Vladimir Putin. He is prone to backing up Putin’s policies with blustery threats, as when he threatened last month to make Europe “disappear” in a nuclear fireball if Western governments provided Ukraine with nuclear weapons.

"There’s a part of [Russia’s] territory, Alaska. When they start trying to dispose of our resources abroad, before doing this, they should remember that we, too, have something to take back,” he said.

Residents told local media the billboards were created by a “patriot” company called “Alaska,” which was supposedly not connected to the Russian government.

Police Gunfire, Burning Hay Bales on Roads as Dutch Farmers Resist Climate Agenda:

MAASLAND, Netherlands (AP) – Bales of hay lie burning along Dutch highways. Supermarket shelves stand empty because distribution centres are blocked by farmers. Then, at dusk, a police officer pulls his pistol and shoots at a tractor.

Dutch farmers are embroiled in a summer of discontent that shows no sign of abating. Their target? Government plans to rein in emissions of nitrogen oxide and ammonia that they say threatens to wreck their agricultural way of life and put them out of business.

At the heart of the clash between farmers and the Dutch government are moves to protect human health and vulnerable natural habitats from pollution in the form of nitrogen oxides and ammonia, which are produced by industry, transport and in the waste of livestock.

Unveiling a map detailing nitrogen reduction targets last month, the Dutch government called it an “unavoidable transition.” It said the coming year would finally bring clarity for Dutch farmers, “whether and how they can continue with their business. The minister sees three options for farmers: become (more) sustainable, relocate or stop.”   [And what will the people eat?]

"The average person currently sees the Netherlands as a nitrogen polluter, while we are also a food producer. It seems like people have forgotten that,” he [Zegwaard] told The Associated Press.
