Veganism wanes in significance as Americans are eating more meat than five years ago: Despite popular culture pushing meat alternatives and legacy media insisting that Americans are “consuming less red meat,” Americans are eating more beef today than five years ago. Americans are refusing to ditch red meat in defiance of fad diets and plant-based meat substitutes like the Impossible and Beyond lines of burgers taking over space on restaurant menus. The New York Post reported that the average American consumed 58.6 pounds of red meat in 2021. In 2017, Americans recorded an all-time low by consuming an average of 54 pounds of red meat that year. Americans are eating roughly five more pounds of red meat than five years ago. The New York Post suggested that veganism is a fad that might be on the way out. The Post also suggested that figures in popular culture continually insisting that a meatless diet is the future is an example of them being “hilariously out of touch with the masses.” https://www.theblaze.com/news/-2657205124 Tennessee lawmakers pass bill requiring drunk drivers to pay child support if they kill parents: 'Make people think twice': Lawmakers in Tennessee have passed a bill that would require by law that drunk drivers who kill the parents of minors in car accidents pay child support to the children. House Bill 1834 was unanimously passed by the Tennessee Senate on Wednesday. In March, the bill unanimously passed in Tennessee's House of Representatives. The bill is known as "Bentley's Law" or "Ethan, Hailey, and Bentley's Law" – named after children of victims killed by drunk drivers. The bill would require a drunken driver convicted of killing a parent or caregiver to have to pay restitution for each child of the victim until the minor reaches the age of 18 and has graduated high school. If passed, Tennessee would be the first state to put such a law on its books. Meanwhile, other states are reportedly considering adopting the law. https://www.theblaze.com/news/tennessee-drunk-driving-bill-child-support Twitter says ads that 'contradict the scientific consensus on climate change are prohibited' on the platform: The big tech company declared that "misleading advertisements on Twitter that contradict the scientific consensus on climate change are prohibited, in line with our inappropriate content policy. We believe that climate denialism shouldn’t be monetized on Twitter, and that misrepresentative ads shouldn’t detract from important conversations about the climate crisis. This approach is informed by authoritative sources, like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Assessment Reports." The company has faced criticism for engaging in censorship and failing to provide a platform where people can engage in free speech. Maybe Elon can change that soon! :prayer-hands: Elon Wins: Twitter to Be Sold to Elon Musk: After a two-week battle against opposition from the platform’s board members, self-declared free speech absolutist Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and currently the richest man in the world, has succeeded in his bid to buy Twitter. In a press release, the Twitter board announced that they had reached an agreement with the multi-billionaire to sell 100 percent of the company at Musk’s original price of $54.20 per share. In his acquisition offer to Twitter, disclosed to the SEC, Musk unambiguously stated that the goal behind his purchase was the restoration of free speech on the platform. “I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy,” wrote Musk. https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2022/04/25/elon-wins-twitter-to-be-sold-to-elon-musk/
