The Lord rose from the grave on First-fruits [Day 16 Month 1] because, through His Holy Spirit, He is the Resurrection Day. First-fruits is synonymous with "the Resurrection on the Last Day" Apparently this use to be common knowledge among the Jewish people. Note the dialogue between the Lord and Martha: Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection [that is, I am the First-fruits] and the LIFE.
