I personally can’t stand the smell of tobacco ... its equal with the smell of the nasty coffee beans brewing. :negative: When I worked for Nabisco they illegally permitted smoking in the building because they were part of RJR Tobacco and sold Winston & Salem cigarettes in their company store along with their snacks. I was able to move my office cube to where there was no smokers. Those who said “it doesn’t bother me” all died early deaths (from cancer) soon after saying that mocking statement. The others took notice and immediately demanded that a no smoking policy be in place. My dad was a chain smoker and was able to give it up when he got saved and asked Jesus to remove that craving away. He quit cold turkey after smoking 2-3 packs a day for 20 something years. My grandmother also gave it up after she got saved. My grandfather though still enjoyed his pipe so he had to sit outdoors on the front porch if he wanted to smoke since he was out numbered. I find the smell of cigarette smoke or marijuana to be absolutely disgusting. Cigars however, I don't mind. I have never smoked but I have a good Christian friend who does. Depends on the brand but many of them smell quite nice. Plus, I have grown flowering tobacco from time to time. The hummingbirds, love it. :rose: Arthur, I suppose those tobacco blossoms are what keep your hummingbirds feeling high. And TR, one pack per day times 365 days per year times 50 years would be well under 20,000 packs / 400,000 cigarettes total. You'd need another five years at that rate to reach that goal, and we'll be gone long before that. Hang tough, Denis my friend. It's good you and Geri live on opposite ends of the country.  And I suppose you drink coffee too. :mdrmdr: This is a funny and great string, just because the world is sooo upside down right now. MWS - just a bit of FYI, I am not against either smoking, drinking, or drugging —- keeps me in a job! :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr: :good: Well, sorry to make your day gloomy, but thank you for helping out my professional career. :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr: :yahoo: To the other points regarding the planned- demic. All, I can say and several thousand other clinicians - what a bunch of dog —— this whole mess is. I have treated more patients with pneumonia and regular flu, who survived just fine than this virus. Ebola and HIV remain far worse, unless of course you’re one of those folks I mentioned above — could be worse for you then, but certainly a plausible recovery is possible. Just read the article by a highly respected Israeli Mathematician (not even a clinical expert) about his finding of NO second wave. Hoping and praying to exit the earth very soon! :prayer-hands:  Tammie, your professional perspective and practicality refreshes our little conclave of faithful watchers with medical wisdom, embellished with a refreshing hint of mirth. Your posts assist to dispel our parochial doubts incubated within our own perhaps sensible suspicions, and given your credentials and experience, our confidence in our own hunches is significantly bolstered. And as a bonus, the mild breeze of wisdom you embellish your comments with relieves our doubts, wafting away our otherwise obscured field of view -- enhancing our hope, and restoring existential clarity. (Okay, how's that for blowing smoke? Pass me that cigar, Hank!) Seriously though Tammie, thank you. By the way, that mathematician poses some interesting durations: 40-days and 70-days. Hmmmm...    MyWhiteStone, You don't remind me of Columbo. More like the most interesting man in the world that Geri7 is always running into : ) :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr: :mdrmdr: I for one am looking forward to a glorified abode, w/o disease! Thank you! I appreciate you all just as much, a lot of wisdom shared on RITAN and the encouragement is top notch! See you all very, very, very soon! :prayer-hands: :popcorn :prayer-hands: When you learn that strains of Ebola, HIV and who knows what else, have been patented, it's clear that theonly hope is in our Creator's perfect medicne of Salvation and physical/spiritual Redemption. Hee hee yep, that would be Jonathan Goldsmith. He’s been faithfully wearing a red bandana at the grocery store. I went to a local paint store and purchased their best version of the cement sealant since HomeDepot’s Behr version was a big disappointment. Low and behold their kind works great. This is the brand that I’m very pleased with ... I had to buy 2 quart size cans to seal the back patio. It was a hot day but its finally done. The paint store had free white disposable face masks on a table as you walk into their store. Since I was there twice today I picked up 2 ... so I think I can reuse these until I can make my own out of material. B-)
See it’s not smoking that screws up the lungs, coronaries, and produces oral cancers, it’s the tar; it’s not the Excessive drinking of alcohol that causes liver failure, pancreatic disease, electrolyte deficiencies, brain cell death, it’s the ethanol and other chemicals to produce the desired addition for alcohol; it’s not illicit use of heroin, cocaine, Marijuana, or overuse of opioids, it’s the hidden chemicals (known as lacing), that fry the brain and punch holes in the heart.
Yep, so I’m good with peoples lifestyle choices, I will never not have a job in healthcare management. Oh and did I mention over eating that can produce diabetes, that has a kissin cousin to heart failure, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and increased stroke potential (God calls that gluttony).
