Gallup Poll: Majority of Gazans Would Relocate if Allowed:

A majority of Palestinians would leave the Gaza strip if they were able to, according to a Gallup poll of the coastal enclave’s residents, which found that 52 percent would leave either temporarily or permanently if given the chance.

The findings, which were reported in the British Telegraph on Saturday based on data collected by Gallup from more than 500 Gaza residents between March 2 and 13, revealed a striking 52 percent of Gazans expressed a desire to relocate, with 14 percent saying they would leave permanently and 38 percent seeking temporary refuge abroad. Only 39 percent said they have no intention of leaving the war-torn enclave.

Germany emerged as the most desired destination, followed closely by Egypt, Qatar, and the UAE — countries that already host significant Palestinian populations.

The poll found younger residents, especially those in devastated areas such as Khan Younis and Gaza City, most eager to leave.

Breitbart News reported that President Trump’s plan to rebuild Gaza by resettling its citizens has significant support among many Gazans and is the “only solution” for struggling civilians, according to the Center for Peace Communications, which is fighting for Gazans to be given a chance to leave the war-torn enclave “to find a better life” for themselves and their families “before it’s too late.”

The growing movement of Gazans speaking out comes as critics and mainstream media label President Trump’s plan unethical, while overlooking the real humanitarian crisis — Gazans who want to leave but remain trapped under Hamas rule.

Israel orders IDF to seize more Gaza territory if Hamas doesn't release hostages:

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to seize more territory in Gaza if Hamas continues to refuse to release the hostages. Earlier this week, the IDF resumed the war in Gaza after a nearly two-month-long ceasefire that saw the release of 33 hostages.

"If the terrorist organization Hamas continues to refuse to release the hostages, I have instructed the IDF to seize additional territories, while evacuating the population, and to expand the security zones around Gaza for the benefit of protecting Israeli communities and IDF soldiers, through permanent Israeli control of the territory," Katz said in a statement. "As Hamas continues its refusal, it will lose more and more territory that will be annexed to Israel."

If Israel follows through on Katz’s threat of partial annexation, it would be the biggest shift to the status quo in Gaza in almost 20 years. In 2005, Israel evacuated Gaza and even sent in the IDF to physically take Israelis out of their homes. A year later, Hamas took control and has ruled over the Strip ever since.

Katz also said that Israel will continue Operation "Strength and Sword" with increasing intensity until Hamas releases the hostages. Additionally, he affirmed Israel’s adherence to the proposal put forth by U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, which involves getting all hostages, alive and dead, out of Gaza in two phases.

The Trump administration is standing by Israel’s military decisions. This is a very different approach than the one taken by the Biden administration, which supported Israel militarily and diplomatically, but also put pressure on the country to limit civilian casualties in Gaza.

Report: First Group of Gaza Migrants Heads to Indonesia Under Israeli-Led Emigration Program:

Roughly 100 Palestinians from Gaza will travel to Indonesia for construction work under a new Israeli pilot program, according to Channel 12 News, which reported the initiative as the first stage of a larger plan to facilitate voluntary migration from the Hamas-run enclave.

On Wednesday, Hebrew media revealed that the pilot initiative — coordinated by the IDF’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) and overseen by Major General Ghassan Alian — is designed to test the feasibility of voluntary Gaza emigration through overseas employment opportunities.

If successful, the program will be transferred to Israel’s newly established Migration Directorate, a unit created within the Defense Ministry by Defense Minister Israel Katz and approved by Israel’s Security Cabinet just days earlier. The Directorate is tasked with organizing “safe and controlled passage” for Gazans seeking to relocate abroad, including logistics for land, air, and sea departures.

According to the report, the 100 workers headed to Indonesia — a Muslim-majority nation with no formal diplomatic ties to Israel — will be employed in the construction sector. Despite the diplomatic gap, cooperation was reached to facilitate the pilot program, marking a quiet milestone in Israel’s regional outreach efforts.

The long-term goal is to enable thousands more Gazans to take advantage of similar employment-based migration opportunities, provided host countries are willing to participate. While international law allows for return migration, Israeli officials have emphasized the aim is to support permanent resettlement elsewhere, alleviating the pressure of Gaza’s humanitarian and security crisis.

“We are working with all means to implement the U.S. president’s vision, and we will allow any Gaza resident who wants to move to a third state to do so,” said Katz, referencing President Donald Trump’s approach to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through regional cooperation and population relocation.

Over 35,000 Gazans have permanently left the Strip since the war resumed.

The initiative comes as hundreds of Gazans were seen marching through Gaza carrying white flags and chanting anti-Hamas slogans according to videos posted from the scene showing participants calling for peace, press coverage, and the release of hostages.

The scenes marked one of the largest and most open protests against Hamas since the start of the war with Israel in October 2023. Historically, Hamas has responded to anti-government protests with swift and often violent crackdowns.

This latest protest, however, signals growing desperation among ordinary Gazans, many of whom now appear willing to speak out despite the risks.

Israel-coordinated departures from Gaza rise alongside expanding anti-Hamas protests:

Hundreds of Gazans have been leaving the Gaza Strip permanently each week in recent months at their own request. According to Israeli officials, over 35,000 Gazans have left for a third country since the Gaza war began. On Thursday, over 200 sick Gazans and their families are expected to fly to the UAE via Israel's Ramon Airport, with hundreds more set to follow in the coming weeks, Ynet learned on Wednesday.

The numbers have risen dramatically in recent weeks, coordinated and escorted by defense officials —from movement within Gaza to police details in Israel until departure. This is done under government directives.

Exit permits are granted to Gazans in need of medical treatment, who are permitted to travel with their families, as well as to Gazans with dual citizenship or residency visas from a third country. Defense officials receive hundreds of requests weekly for departures to a third country.
Security officials stressed that all departing Gazans undergo strict security screening by the Shin Bet to filter out Hamas members and other terrorists whom Israel does not wish to allow out.
Leaving Gaza has become a struggle for survival rather than a choice. In recent weeks, many Gazans have conveyed a simple message: "Just get us out." This is reflected in a growing wave of protests against Hamas in Gaza.
On Tuesday, hundreds of residents from Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza protested the war after being displaced from their homes and moving toward Gaza City. This was the first demonstration of its kind in Gaza to challenge Hamas leaders' narratives of "steadfastness" and remaining on "Palestinian land."
This protest is considered highly unusual and one of the largest demonstrations held in Gaza throughout the war. Gazans face significant difficulties in opposing Hamas rule or removing it through legitimate means, as the organization enforces its authority through intimidation and even public executions of dissenters.

As hostage negotiations remain stuck, IDF continues to squeeze Hamas while preparing larger operation:

Despite mounting pressure on Hamas, Israel estimates that talks about a new ceasefire and hostage deal are stuck at the moment, leaving military operations as the only lever to pressure the terror group currently.

Since the ceasefire’s first phase ended without an agreement on a continuation, Israel has gradually applied pressure on Hamas, first by cutting aid and electricity, before resuming airstrikes in the Gaza Strip and killing numerous top officials, as well as advancing ground troops in several areas of the enclave.

Israel’s defense establishment estimates that fuel, food, and water will run out in the Gaza Strip within 60 days. In an additional, surprising development that will put even more pressure on the terror group, protests have erupted across the strip.

Despite Egypt threatening Hamas as well, the terror group remains obstinate and has rejected several new Egyptian outlines for hostage deals.

While several reports in recent weeks indicated that the IDF is preparing a large-scale offensive aiming to occupy the whole of Gaza in one fell swoop, the report suggested that Israel’s leadership wants to let the pressure build for several more weeks, and therefore has not begun a broad call-up of reserves.
