For the first time in 2,000 years: Priests blessing soldiers going to war:

. . . . A young man in the community, the son of a friend, was traveling to Israel to serve in the IDF and Saul, a Kohen, decided that he wanted to give the young man a blessing before he went off to war.

Saul hurried to the airport and after a bit of searching, found the young man among a large pile of duffel bags full of donated equipment for his IDF unit, preparing to leave for Israel. Saul made his unusual request.

“I am a Kohen,” Saul said. “Can I give you a bracha (blessing)? Saul asked.

Saul placed his hands on the young man’s head and gave him a heartfelt blessing, The young man’s eyes filled with tears.

Several other young men who were about to leave to fight in the war against Hamas gathered around, asking to be blessed.

Word quickly got out and Saul organized a Whatsapp group to connect soldiers with Kohanim. Since coordinating Kohanim and soldiers was impossible, each soldier was assigned an individual Kohen who sent a video of him blessing the soldier by name.

The list grew at an unbelievable rate. Within a few days, over 4,000 names of soldiers were signed up and over 300 Kohanim were assigned to bless them individually.

“In many cases, the soldiers are already on the front line and their parents or loved ones are signing them up,” Saul said. “While in uniform, they are being blessed by a Kohen who singles them out by name.”

Sauls’ initial instinct came from his function as a Kohen within his community but its roots go much deeper. When Israel first became a nation upon exiting Egypt, God assured them that they would be protected in war after specially appointed Kohanim blessed them.

“This is a powerful time. We are going to see wonders like we have never seen before, miracles that were written about in the Bible,” Rabbi Kahane predicted.

Soldiers can register online by filling out the form. Kohanim who wish to take part can also register online.  The group also has an Instagram @kohanimoncallworldwide.  Kohanim are also going to bases to give blessings in person. If a unit wants it they should email: [email protected].

The kohanic blessing [Christians usually call this "the priestly blessing"] is taken from Numbers 6:23-27.

UC Berkeley class offers credit for attending pro-Palestinian rallies:

Students outraged following email from Department of Ethnic Studies; 'They’re asking us to justify the horrible violence acted against civilians and children, and receive credit for that?'

University of California, Berkeley offers extra credit to students who participate in pro-Palestinian protests on campus or push their local California district representative to criticize Israeli “occupation.”

With new speaker, US House passes measure backing Israel in ‘barbaric war launched by Hamas’:

WASHINGTON — US lawmakers pass a resolution voicing solidarity with Israel in its war with Hamas terrorists, in their first act after electing a new speaker of the Republican-led House of Representatives.

The measure, entitled “Standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists,” receives near-unanimous backing from Republicans and all but 10 Democrats.

‘Sponge bombs’ are Israel’s new secret weapon to block Hamas tunnels.
The Israel Defense Forces' novel chemical device produces a foam explosion that can seal off gaps and tunnel entrances:

Israel will use novel “sponge bombs” as it fights through the network of Hamas tunnels under Gaza.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has been testing the chemical bombs, which contain no explosives but are used to seal off gaps or tunnel entrances from which fighters may emerge.

The IDF has not commented on the use of the so-called “sponge bombs”, which create a sudden explosion of foam that rapidly expands and then hardens.

The “sponge bomb” would prevent soldiers being ambushed as they move further into the network, sealing off gaps through which Hamas could attack.

Contained in a plastic container, the specialist devices have a metal partition separating two liquids. Once this barrier is extracted, the compounds mix as the soldier positions the “bomb” or throws it further ahead.

Specialised teams in the IDF’s engineering corps have been grouped into tunnel reconnaissance units and equipped with ground and aerial sensors, ground penetrating radar and special drilling systems to locate tunnels.

They have also been issued with special equipment to see when underground.
