My mom's car was stolen Saturday night at 8! Well she leased it. It's a red Kia Forte! The neighbor saw it happen and called the police. Now the police found it and it's in the impound lot.  I was so shaken. This world has gone crazy and I want out! I've been praying for that guy who stole it. He needs God!

I had a car stolen back in 1995. I had just moved to Southern California three weeks earlier. It's such a feeling of violation for sure. Glad your mom wasn't in it when it was stolen.

Car theft if rampant here in Portland.   My son's truck was stolen - but fortunately we got it back.   The district attorney's are so weak the crooks know that nothing will happen to them.    The police are so underfunded and short staffed that they can only follow up on physical violence cases.    Its only a preview of what is to come and its going to be a lot worse for those left behind.   Get me off this rock Lord!

I'm so sorry Sonja your mom experienced this. Thank goodness for the neighbor calling the police and that it was found. And grateful it wasn't your mom's own car.

It is so sad regarding Portland. I have family history there - summers at grandma's with cousins. My adopted and bio family there! Alot of memories. How it has been so trashed!

Unfortunately Kias  and Hyundais are the popular vehicles to get stolen.  Their anti theft system is lousy.   Some insurance companies like State Farm’s refuses to insure the owner.

I’m sorry this happened to your mom.  I’m glad she wasn’t hurt in the process.

Thanks everyone. We didn't hear or see anything. We have a camera in the back but it caught nothing. Only a second of the car leaving. I didn't have any bad feelings about before it happened or after. I think God was protecting us. Because if my mom saw the guy, she would have confronted him, and she could have been shot. So thank God we are all okay. We were in the house.

Oh I'm so sorry Yohanan! Yes a huge violation, but we just have to say to ourselves that it's just a car, we are okay. People just don't steal from us, they steal from God too, and that is very sad.

They say getting a steering lock bar and the kind that wraps around the brake pedal will discourage car thefts … hopefully the keys aren’t all universal.  I would invest in 2 different ones - one they can clearly see and the other that wraps around the brake pedal.  Perhaps have a locksmith change the cylinder lock so the keys are totally different from the manufacturers for peace of mind?
