Indeed, His eye is on the smallest sparrow. He is mindful of them and provides for them when alive and has regard for them even in death. Yet the sparrow still falls. But He does go on to say how much more He is concerned with human life and death. And like the sparrow, men also fall into death. This is the way of life in this realm, lacking the eternal aspect within our temporal existence. His love of mankind seems to be greater than His love for the rest of creation. We are called the crown of His creation. And it was in the form of a human that Christ appeared, being that we were created in His image. The marvels of His creativity are manifested throughout His whole creation, but it was for man that He died. Many of the wonders of the universe are given for us to marvel over. Galaxies, stars, planets. A sunrise or sunset. The miracle of human birth. The importance of human interaction and relationships! He has given us many things that were simply to be enjoyed or be pleasing to eye. Just as with Eve who eyed the fruit in the Garden and found it pleasing. But it seems we can often loose sight (pardon the pun) of a basic teaching. Love the Creator, not the creation! This seems to me to be the area by which so many are deceived or develop inappropriate priorities. As like in the first commandment, the priority identified to love, is God first, our neighbors, ourselves as He loves us, and then one another! Indeed the rest of creation is to be enjoyed, appreciated, and be objects of gratitude for their existence! But because we worship what we love, God gave us this commandment as a hedge! TR
