Tammie,  do you wait for your lemons to REALLY ripen before picking?  And are they REALLY sweet?   My California brother had 2 lemon trees on the front lawn and he was eating the fruit like an orange.  I couldn’t get over how sweet they were.  I was able to make lemonade without adding sugar. They must pick them green before shipping out to the east coast. 🤨

What do you mean about the store seeds?  Are they GMO seeds?   Or they will only produce 1 year?  What about buying veggies plants already started at a nursery?   The food bank was handing out Basil last week.

I wish we could grow fruits and vegetables completely indoors; when you can't do outdoors! :rose:

Geri,

My apologies for not seeing this until now. My lemons are not that sweet but delicious and can be eaten without sugar. My tree is not doing well this year

As to seeds, many store bought seeds are “enhanced” and that is concerning. I typically buy from seed catalogs and look for heirloom varieties.  Per scripture seed bearing plants should bear seeds, many of the newer plants do not contain seeds or contain seeds that cannot reproduce, so what does that say????

I grow basil, it’s a staple in my household. You can freeze the leaves as well as dry them. I put basil leaves on my pizza too, its delicious. :rose:

Kolleen you can — look up hydroponics. I have been a hydroponic grower for over 10 years and have several hydroponic “farms” in my sunroom and during the winter we enjoy fresh, homegrown cherry tomatoes, green peppers, lettuce and a variety of herbs.  If you have a nice sunny window space, you can grow lemons, oranges, and limes inside. They also have dwarf banana trees that prefer inside. My neighbor has prickly pear, bananas, and lemons inside her sunroom.

Geri, I am seriously thinking that if the Father’s timeline is not soon, beans, rice, tofu, and veggies are going to be the only things on my menu — that is just disgusting and I can’t even imagine the long term affects of this kind of “man made” ‘food’?????

How neat Tammy! I'd enjoy all of those to grow. We have many large windows but only one is a window seat - on our main level, and with diffused sun. I would love to have a raised garden area, but, my lower back is disabling me a lot! If that isn't remedied here on earth, my garden will be a heavenly one! :amen:

Geri, just those two "meat" labels themselves are revolting! Because we know what's behind it. Maybe we should all look at buying a whole lot of protein powders to sustain us in case they decide to rush this. But we all have this inner peace - don't we all!? A peace and a promise with His comfort that He will come for us soon... :rose:

I am in the process of setting up hydroponics in my house. I never thought to put a dwarf banana tree in the window! GREAT Idea!!!

Yohanan you might consider aquaponics — feed the fish and the fish feed your plants. I am seriously considering adding this component by fall IF … I say IF the bride has not gone to meet the Bridegroom.

Also, there are dwarf trees of several varieties — you just have to have window space or grow lights to help them along. Highly recommend placing them in large pots, so the root ball can have room to spread out.

As much as I love to garden, It really want to go home and as Paul said , “…which I shall choose, I cannot tell, my desire is to be with Christ for that is far better ….” That verse has really come alive with meaning in the last of the last days …. :prayer-hands:

Kolleen — I have back issues as well so let me share my experience —- I use raised beds and for low light areas, grow lights work great. I typically keep my lights on a timer system and my watering is also timer controlled … as much as I love to garden, I am a lazy gardener and typically keep things easy and simple….

I completely understand the verse in 2 Corinthians 4:16 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” — I feel my outer shell wasting away on a daily basis but my spirit is lifted high and new every morning, because great is His faithfulness….. :prayer-hands:

Maybe we can have joint gardens in our heavenly abode :yahoo:
