I grew up surrounded by wild things like blackberries, huckleberries, rhubarb....along with Gravenstein green apples, other huge and juicy apples, a pear tree, cherry tree, and a prune tree so, those tree's were my second home!! Along side a big pond with my ducks, cats and horses. Was a kind of garden of eden - sort of! 🙂

Growing a veggie garden as we speak. Have had a garden years ago when the kids were little and I was at home with them. If you don’t have much room, grow bags work great! You can do it…if not for yourself then for those left behind who still may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus.

One of the difficulties people will face at that time trying to eat wild foods and game is that everyone else will be doing the same thing. The squirrel and rabbit population will be decimated by all the hungry hunters trying to feed their families. All the people with bug-out bags will be trying to live off the land. There are tons of videos of survivalists teaching people how to survive in the wild. That may work for a few but multiply that by a larger factor and the strain on the supply will become an issue. Remember there are 330,000,000 people in the USA alone and once the hammer comes down it will be chaos. I read an interesting book once that I thought gave a great description of how things will be if the lights go out in the US. The book is called Lights Out by David Crawford.

If it comes to it I think the best idea is a portable container garden. Put the pots out during daylight hours and move them inside before nightfall. But I do not think we will be here for that scenario.

Very true Yohanan, and also I should note - even with the wild edibles - around where I live they are not so great this year - we are in drought and even the wild stuff is suffering. Berries drying up or not maturing.  Even the fruit trees are suffering I had tons of apples on my apple tree but the lack of rain has caused them to dry up and fall off - This all tells me one thing.

When God decides He is going to declare a famine, its not an easy thing to escape no matter what a good survivalist you are - all He has to do is turn off the rain and the best laid plans are cancelled.

But while famine is not an easy thing to escape, it is not impossible to escape either and I think we will probably escape it through the “great” escape of the rapture.

You had mentioned having to use grow pots to guard food from thieves, like you, I do not think we will be here for that scenario either!

I will check out that book Yohanan. The book One Second After by William Forstchen is about the scenario in the states after an EMP attack....that one nearly gave me nightmares; but we all believe we are out of here before the catastrophic effects of the trib starts because we leave before then...praise the Lord

I asked one of the authors on Rapture Ready. He thinks there will be no EMP attacks before mid tribulation. Internet has to be working properly for all the world to see what happens to the 2 witnesses.

How long will it take to restore things after such an attack? I have no clue.

Looks like the lights go out later on in the bowl judgments … after the unsaved accept the mark.

Revelation 16:10

Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain.

Geri, After reading again the judgements coming on the earth and the chaos planned by the antichrist on humans, nothing we have prepared for the left behind may be available for them. It is a very sad thought. I have placed tracks, bibles, letters, videos, etc… all around the house, in the cars, at work, and my prayer is that if one soul can find these, please Lord let them be saved and safe to pass on the Word…. :prayer-hands: Cry

Tammie, I have thought the same thing.  Any food I might not need and have left behind, any bibles or other stuff - might be destroyed before they could be of any use to anyone.  But I just kind of rest in the sovereignty of God, if they are meant to be found He will preserve them just like He miraculously preserved the Dead Sea scrolls for all those years, and if some heathen that continues to blaspheme God wanders upon my left behind stuff I don’t thing God will let them take advantage of the blessings I leave behind.

Everybody should prepare for the worse regardless of your rapture position.  I have small gardens, a 'roof' water recovery system, and long storage food in 5–6-gallon buckets that last 25-30+ years....and some.

I hope people are aware that food shortages are being intentionally caused.  Over 100 food processing plants burned down worldwide???  Farmers barns mysteriously burning down???  I've always believed things would go bad, but not at the hands of our own and Western governments.
