I have posted my thought re Daniel 2300 days. Some new members may miss it. Here it goes.

Daniel 2300 days

Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? 14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Many Christians see a single event in verse 13, represented by " concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?" But I see two events. Verse 13 speaks of the fate of the daily sacrifice after it is restored and re-instituted by the Jews.

The first event is " Concerning the daily sacrifice". It speaks of day one when this daily sacrifice is restored by the Jews at some point of tribulation. The second event is the fate of this daily sacrifice represented by "the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot" This event shall take place in mid trib when AC breaks the covenant and changes the times and law of Israel ( Daniel 7:25). The time is their feast and the law is their Torah. Their sanctuary shall also be trodden under foot by gentiles.

If we take away the second event " the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot" from verse 13, we have this;

"How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."

Daniel was told the daily sacrifice can only last 2300 days. After these period, sanctuary be cleansed and Holy can be restored. It means from the first day the daily sacrifice is restored and re-instituted by the Jews, the fate of this daily sacrifice will last 2300 days.

But during these 2300 days, this daily sacrifice shall be interrupted by "the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot". This transgression of desolation is inserted to foretell the tragic fate of this daily sacrifice.

Having said this, to calculate which day shall the daily sacrifice be restored by the Jews based on my timeline, here's the calculation.

1260 days ends on May 16 2027. This is the day Jesus returns to earth. 1290 days ends on June 15 2027. It takes 30 days to end the abomination. By June 15 2027, sanctuary is cleansed and Holy is restored. June 15 2027 is also the day to end the tragic fate of 2300 days of the daily sacrifice.

Subtract 2300 days from June 15 2027, we come to Feb 26 2021 as the first day the daily sacrifice is re-instituted and restored by the Jews. Feb 26 2021 also falls on Adar 14 Purim in Hebrew calendar. Purim is important in Jewish history. It commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire from destruction in the wake of a plot by Haman. After Gog/Magog, Israelis shall choose Purim to reinstitute the daily sacrifice, to give glory to Yahweh, because Yahweh has saved them from extinction one more time, to commemorate God's deliverance of their nation from the hand of Haman. Below is the break down of events based on "my possible timeline".

July 21 2020 Rapture, beginning of tribulation

Summer 2020 Seeing US and EU crippled by rapture, Russia together with Iran and Turkey launches attack on Israel. Because God intervenes, this war shall be short and a decisive win by Israel.

November/December 2020 End of Gog/Magog

Feb 26 2026 Purim Reinstitution and restoration of daily sacrifice. Beginning of 2300 days. Though they don't have the third temple yet, they shall restore their daily sacrifice by building a tent outside the temple mount.

It isn't "2300 days."  It is "2300 evenings and mornings."

Evening and morning makes up one day, just like those in Genesis 1. I believe scripture points to 2300 days. There is an argument that 2300 evenings and mornings is an actual 1150 days. I used to lean on this thought. But I have abandoned this thought since I believe 2300 days speaks of the duration of daily sacrifice from day one it is established.

A correction to my last paragraph. Feb 26 2026 Purim  should have been Feb 26 2021 Purim.

1290 days points to the end of abomination while 2300 days points to sanctuary is cleansed and holy is restored. They both shall end on the same day. This is why I subtract 2300 days from the last day of 1290 days. And it is truly amazing that 2300 days begins on Purim Feb 26 2021.

The reference to "evenings" and "mornings" is an idiom referring to the twice daily sacrifices offered at the temple.  There was some textual confusion among the various versions. Some said 2200, some said 2400.  In our version, the number 2300 is given.

The passage was recognized by Josephus as being literally fulfilled in the time of Antiochus Epiphanes when the temple sacrifices were suspended

https://www.sacred-texts.com/jud/josephus/ant-10.htm

From paragraph 7:

He also related, that when he stood up, he was shown a great rain, with many horns growing out of his head, and that the last was higher than the rest: that after this he looked to the west, and saw a he-goat carried through the air from that quarter; that he rushed upon the ram with violence, and smote him twice with his horns, and overthrew him to the ground, and trampled upon him: that afterward he saw a very great horn growing out of the head of the he-goat, and that when it was broken off, four horns grew up that were exposed to each of the four winds, and he wrote that out of them arose another lesser horn, which, as he said, waxed great; and that God showed to him that it should fight against his nation, and take their city by force, and bring the temple worship to confusion, and forbid the sacrifices to be offered for one thousand two hundred and ninety-six days. Daniel wrote that he saw these visions in the Plain of Susa; and he hath informed us that God interpreted the appearance of this vision after the following manner: He said that the ram signified the kingdoms of the Medes and Persians, and the horns those kings that were to reign in them; and that the last horn signified the last king, and that he should exceed all the kings in riches and glory: that the he-goat signified that one should come and reign from the Greeks, who should twice fight with the Persian, and overcome him in battle, and should receive his entire dominion: that by the great horn which sprang out of the forehead of the he-goat was meant the first king; and that the springing up of four horns upon its falling off, and the conversion of every one of them to the four quarters of the earth, signified the successors that should arise after the death of the first king, and the partition of the kingdom among them, and that they should be neither his children, nor of his kindred, that should reign over the habitable earth for many years; and that from among them there should arise a certain king that should overcome our nation and their laws, and should take away their political government, and should spoil the temple, and forbid the sacrifices to be offered for three years' time. And indeed it so came to pass, that our nation suffered these things under Antiochus Epiphanes, according to Daniel's vision, and what he wrote many years before they came to pass.

The point is, the literalness of fulfilled prophecy was recognized by Flavius Josephus (and presumably others) in the generation following Jesus, and it was taken to mean "three years."

Daniel 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

David, you think this little horn is Antiochus Epiphanes. Scripture points to a different person.

11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down

"and the place of his sanctuary was cast down"

This little horn not only magnifies himself to be like God, he also cast down his own sanctuary. Did Antiochus cast down his own temple between 168 and 164 BC? Concerning casting down of his own temple, we find this event in Revelation 17:15-16.

15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

Many Christians including myself believe the whore is Vatican, and it shall be burned by the ten kings one day. By this time, AC has already moved to Babylon. Ten kings are his puppets. He controls the ten kings. With his permission, ten kings go ahead to burn Vatican, his own sanctuary in verse 11.

Also, from the conversation between the angel and Daniel, we find the little horn can't be Antiochus.

17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

"for at the time of the end shall be the vision"

The vision is for the end time. It doesn't sound right with the events took place between 168 and 164 BC.

23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

"His power shall be nighty, but not by his own power"

Antiochus is king of Seleucid empire. He reigned by his own power.  This contradicts " not by his own power". From Revelation 13, the beast gains his power from Satan because Satan gives the power, his seat and authority to the beast. It fits "but not by his own power" description because Satan gives the power to him . The little horn whom angel was referring to is the beast aka Anti Christ. And he could not be Antiochus.

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

"by peace shall destroy many"

This doesn't sound right with the brutal character of Antiochus.

"he shall be broken without hand"

Antiochus was killed by men, while the little horn shall be destroyed, but not by human power. Little horn shall be destroyed by Jesus' glorious return.

I have only listed few discrepancies between your conclusion and what scripture says. Hope this should clarify the little horn is not Antiochus Epiphanes, but rather, Anti Christ, and his appearance is in future.

I’ve read a few theories on the Little Horn.  Here is a thought ...

The size of the horn or antlers on an animal indicates their age.  Having a little horn symbolizes being a young animal.  Some have speculated that America (the youngest powerful nation) could be the Little Horn that the AC will rise up out of.   The masons secretly call America the “New Atlantis” and the “Revived Rome”.  So I think its still a mystery of who the AC will be and if he rises up here or in Rome or some place else.

In Jeremiah chapter 50 it talks about Babylon. Verse 12 says

Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

The only nation that has a mother is America  ... we came out of Great Britain.

The political side of Babylon - the beast that rises up out of the sea will be given great authority.  I suspect this could be America since the ocean separates us from the Middle East and Europe and the AC comes into power from the United Nations in NYC.

The religious side of Babylon - could either be the Vatican and then the False Prophet moves over to Saudi Arabia where they are building that One World Order church.

Daniel chapter 8 does indeed tell of Antiochus Ephiphanes and his desecration of the temple.

He was the precursor of the coming Man of Sin, who will appear as Jesus warned, during the Tribulation.  Nevertheless, the 2300 Evenings and Mornings belong to Antiochus Ephiphanes, and is a prophecy already fulfilled.

What is still future for us is that the sacrifices will be halted for 1,260 days.  That number is separate and distinct from what happened during the time of Antiochus Ephiphanes.  Even if you double the figure for the entire seven years of the Tribulation, it comes to 2,520 days, and not 2300 days (which doesn't refer to 24 hour periods, anyway).

You can certainly say there are characteristics of the first "little horn" in chapter 8, which are also present in the coming "little horn" of chapter 7.  But the individuals in chapters 7 and 8 are not the same person.  They just have the same satanic motivation.

Note:  I don't agree with this author that the ten horns are successive, at all.  I see them as contemporaries.

Antiochus called himself "God Manifest."  The Man of Sin will also make this claim.

David, other than the few points I have raised, which you haven't responded, you continuously quoted Josephus the historian who could have made mistake in interpreting the 2300 days. First, it is still an argument by many historians regarding the first day of stopping the sacrifice, and the conclusive date of Judas Maccabeus rededicating the temple. Some said desecration  began in 171 BC, lasted 6 years to 165 BC based on their belief of an actual 2300 days. Some like Josephus believed it began in 168 BC, lasted 3 years to 165 BC. We need to understand that when God gave forth a prophecy concerning the number of days, he is very precise and there shouldn't be any confusion regarding those days. People can  make a conclusion to 2300 days after it is fulfilled. If 2300 days happened during the conflict between Maccabees and Antiochus, these 2300 days should have been known to it's preciseness. Why do we still have historians argue on the correctness of 2300 days or 1150 days like you preferred?

Also, there are two sanctuaries mentioned in Daniel 8. In verse 11, we have 'miqdash', which can be a sanctuary dedicated to either God or an idol. And in verses 13 and 14 we have 'qodesh', which refers specifically to a holy place of God. So "the sanctuary" to be cleansed at the end of this 2300 day time period, as mentioned above refers to a holy place of God. If the temple Judas rededicated at the end of revolt is the same temple desecrated by Antiochus, then why would Gabriel give Daniel two different places, that is, one is for human worship, a temple for their own purpose in verse 11, while the one at the end of 2300 days is Holy, for God only in verse 14?  In view of this, the answer I have given correctly identify this issue. The sanctuary in verse 11 is the little horn's own sanctuary while the one miqdash in verse 14 (holy, belongs to God ) at the end of 2300 days shall be restored by Jesus.

Also, at the end of 2300 days, the little horn shall be broken without hand. Based on your timeline of 168 BC to 165 BC,  while the Jews rededicated their temple in 165 BC, a year later in 164 BC, history recorded Antiochus was in Armenia. He died in 164 BC, not 165 BC. He wasn't destroyed at the end of  1150 days like you claimed.

There have been too many discrepancies between your claim and scripture, least to say any historians had come close to explanation of these 2300 days. Concerning why would God add morning and evening in 2300 days, it is because when the Jews reinstitute the daily sacrifice, there will be morning and evening sacrifice. They oblige to the ancient worship. But their morning and evening worship shall be interrupted in middle of tribulation, which shall last 1290 days, until Jesus returns to bring back holiness. From the beginning of restoring the daily sacrifice which consists of morning and evening worship,  unto Jesus returns and sacredness is restored, there will be 2300 days.
