Saturday at the grocery store, I found more and more shelves being empty.  This triggered a thought in my mind: Just how bad will our Lord allow things to get before He comes to rescue us?  The thought of dying physically or being removed from this earth actually stirs hope in my heart, as being done with this fallen world is something I long for.  However, if I am being completely honest, it's the getting from point A (where we are today) to point B (Abba's house in the Bridal Chamber with our Bridegroom) that causes me to battle against fear.

I feel like I have had enough suffering for more than a lifetime, and the prospect of enduring more discourages my soul in ways hard to commnicate.  I know we have bothers and sisters in Christ around the world who this very day are suffering unspeakable persecution.  The Church in China, driven underground by a godless, brutal, totalitarian Christ-hating government.  Our brothers and sisters in parts of Africa who are being brutally murdered for their faith by God-haters.  And I am quite sure there is a ton of other things going on that I am absolutely clueless about, where followers of Jesus are suffering.

With all that awareness and no desire to minimize it in any way, I still cannot help but wonder from a personal perspective, how bad this is going to be allowed by God to get here in America.  Will I have to watch my wife and daughter suffer?  Will we be without food?  Will "normal life" as we have known it be completely obliterated?  I know God's judgment on America is fully justified.  That is quite obvious.  Yet, for the sake of the righteous remnant (righteous only in the imputed righteousness of Christ and through nothing of our own righteousness), I am asking Him to spare us and rescue us before things get really bad.

Would be interested in anyone else's scripturally based thoughts on how bad you think this might get before the dead in Christ rise and we who are alive and remain are caught up to be with the Lord in the air.

Yep, shocked the church is still here to witness this type of chaos in a free sovereign  country.  Unfortunately, its going to get worse because one of my banks that prides themselves as being the “friendliest bank in town” just slipped their new over the top fees in a letter ... effective April 1st.

Excessive withdrawal Fees inside as well as ATM withdrawal Fees - this would also include closing your checking or savings accounts!

Dormant Account Monthly Fee - includes must deposit money monthly or else this applies

Paper Statement Fee - because they want to save the trees and want you to enroll in electronic statements

Monthly service charge for maintaining your account and must have a balance of $3,000 or more

New Check Fee

and effective today (because of the virus) we need to schedule an appointment in order to go inside their bank.  I’m sure they are screening the calls and going to ask “the why” and if you dare say “to close my checking account” they will say  “sorry we are all booked up .. we will have to put your name on our waiting list”. :mail:

I was just reading an article yesterday ... because of this virus MANY people are going to lose their jobs so this bank is all set and ready for it.  No mercy for the people.

I’m amazed out of all the generations ... the Lord thinks we are tough enough to be here to live out the remaining final days.  I know my grandparents and even my parents wouldn’t have been able to put up with what we are seeing.  I believe they grew up in the best time period where the American dream occurred - products made in America and rarely broke down.

Perhaps our crown(s) will have a few extra gem stones than theirs for enduring? 😉

Not to make light of what is going on...but where's George Bailey when you need him?  I'm pretty sure we are going to find many more Mr. Potter's than ol' George's in the banking industry when this whole house of cards collapses.  It's a wonderful life, alright, just not here in this fallen, Christ-hating world.  Beam us up, Abba!!!  Maranatha!!!

Yep, that old classic movie came to my mind too. :good:

Well, after checking a few other banks ... they all pretty much closed their lobby and its by appointment only for them to unlock their doors.  So the only way to get around these new fees ... what I will have to do is sign up for wireless paper statements, and then deposit a few dollars using their drive thru to keep the checking account from going into “dormant” status. B-)

The Mr. Potters of this world are fixin' to have a whole lot of dormant accounts pdq (pretty darn quick).  Then they can charge away on added fees to their hearts' content.  We will have relocated and opened a new account at Trinity Savings.  :yahoo:

Here is an encouraging article

Is Coronavirus Connected to Bible Prophecy? - By Todd Hampson
Published on: March 22, 2020

I have lived through several impactful—even game-changing—historical events which all occurred within 1 year. I worked in DC on 9/11, during the DC sniper murders, and during the DC anthrax mail attacks. That condensed time period was a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. Things were never the same. Our Gen-Z population doesn’t know what it was like before 9/11, just as my Gen-X generation doesn’t know what it was like before the culture-shaking events of the 1960’s.

After 9/11, people filled churches again—but only for a time. As life returned to normal, so did the cultural default position. In fact, it has worsened. In the West—including in America—there has been a steady decline of belief in the Bible or the God of the Bible. The great falling away predicted in Scripture continues and escalates. If trends continue, the next generation of leaders and decision makers will be “nones.” “Nones” are those who do not identify with any religious affiliation or belief system. Like most of Europe, it will be wholly secular—which IS a belief system in itself, but I digress.

As more and more people fall away from true, Biblical Christianity—so too will they fall away from its principles, wisdom, sound-logic, and blessings. There’s no doubt that our country has been blessed so tremendously because it was founded on Biblical principles (and because we have blessed the nation of Israel [Genesis 12:3]). I’m not saying our country is perfect by any means, but to the degree that we have followed God’s ways in our culture—we have also experienced God’s blessing and protection.

Fast-Forward to 2020. The world is on lock-down. The impending tidal wave of COVID-19 has not fully hit the US just yet, but the daily breaking news from our president (and other leaders) both reassures people with a bit more clarity—and frightens people as the reality of the pandemic sinks in.

It’s not very deadly—although all of us know people in the most vulnerable demographic, and we are concerned for their wellbeing. COVID-19 is not even that tough to have as a sickness for most people who are struck with it (as compared with frightening diseases such as Ebola). But the uncertainty surrounding the virus, and the speed with which it spreads, has sent people’s emotions, sense of security, and the stock market into a tailspin.

How is this related to Bible Prophecy?

So, what does this mean for us? Is this related to end-time events? Will it pass? Should we store up toilet paper, cleaning supplies, flu medicine, and hunker down in fear? What voices should we listen to? How seriously should we take the advice given by national and local leaders? How should the Church respond?

First, to address the elephant in the room as it relates to end-time prophecy. We’re not in the tribulation period. Scripture is clear that the rapture will occur first. That’s not to say things won’t get tough prior to the rapture. In fact, Jesus taught in the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24, Luke 21, Mark 13) that there would be birth pains leading up to (and ultimately into) the tribulation period. Also, THE tribulation is different from tribulation in general. Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we would have tribulation in this world (John 16:33). But, the judgments in the tribulation period will be progressively worse than anything the world has ever experienced.

I believe what we are witnessing with COVID-19 is part of the birth pains Jesus talked about in the Olivet Discourse (referenced above). In fact, I think it is a major birth pain; as is the locust plague that is ravaging Africa and the Mideast; as is the large number of social uprisings in countries around the world; as is the increase in earthquake activity; as were the record-breaking Australian wild fires; as is… you get the picture. Birth pains increase in frequency and intensity, and they only increase until the moment of delivery.

This particular birth pain happens to be one that the entire world is feeling. Again, increased intensity. It’s also a birth pain that has shaken all earthly things. Sports, financial markets, distractions, hobbies, concerts, you name it—have all been shut down. Those things aren’t bad in themselves, but it’s as if God is removing any distractions for a moment in history to plead with the world again, ‘Look up! Look to me! This world is temporary. Think about eternal things. I love you. I died for you. Please don’t ignore me. Turn to me now while there is time.’

I should also add that this is a pebble in the ocean compared to a yet-future global event that will rock the world to its core. If one rapidly spreading virus can cause this type of global disruption, can you imagine what the rapture will do when tens of millions are removed from the world in an instant? That singular event will set all the end-time events of John’s Revelation into motion. There have been condensed periods of major supernatural events in the past—creation, the exodus, and the events surrounding the first coming of Jesus culminating with the resurrection. Now, after roughly 2,000 years, we await another period of immense supernatural events which will begin with the rapture.

Were it not for the hundreds of major prophecies that have already been fulfilled—including the rebirth of Israel and recent developments in Syria—this notion would be laughable. But I believe it will literally happen. Scripture is clear.

What should we do now?

Here are a few things.

First, we should not live in fear. God is still in control. He’s in control of the world, and in control of your life. He didn’t cause COVID-19, but he allowed it. There is a paradox inherent in this discussion. God is sovereign, yet mankind still has free will. God has told history in advance about where this is all headed, yet our freewill and the nature of the fallen world transpire in chronological fashion. Faith is required. Gods’ promises are true, prophecy is real, world events are not random, this is all headed somewhere. Do not fear. Look up!

Second, we should look for new ways to leverage this moment to turn people to Christ. It may look different than 2 weeks ago. The truths of Bible prophecy are beginning to have meaning to a broader audience as the whole world senses these birth pains. Even the secular voices are becoming progressively more apocalyptic. The condition of the world is the elephant in the room. We need to be bold enough to talk about it from a Biblical (i.e., accurate) perspective. Along with that, we should love others and meet needs at a time when most are fearful and need some encouragement.

Third, we should be responsible. Though we should not fear, we should heed wise advice and take the recommended precautions seriously. It’s a chance for us to love our neighbor as our self. This pandemic forces us to get our eyes off of our own needs and onto the needs of others. During the worst moments of the initial outbreak, Chinese Christians from the underground church served victims of COVID-19 with grace, joy, and love. Because of such acts, the underground church in China continues to explode. What the enemy meant for evil, was turned to be used for good. The political division in our own country has even (momentarily) subsided a bit. Much like after 9/11, our country is (at least somewhat) joining together as one. I believe this will end once the major threat of COVID-19 has passed. Then (I believe) it will be globalists vs. nationalists at an even greater level.

Fourth, let this time of uncertainty draw you closer to God. If I can be completely real for a moment, the Lord has shown me several things the past few weeks that I need to work on. Nothing earth-shaking, but areas of my thinking and reactions that God has brought to the surface so I can turn them over to him. The closer I get to the Lord, the more I realize how much I need him every day.

These are serious times—and we need to be ready. We need to be ready for whatever lies ahead—and we need to do so with courage, boldness, joy, and hope in a soon-coming King. Everything else fades away in the bright light of His promised future return. We don’t know the day or hour, but all Biblical indicators are that we could very well be the generation that experiences the rapture. What a privilege—and a burden—to be alive at this time in history. Are you ready? Why not put your trust in the only thing that is really stable?

My sister went to her credit union to take out cash and was told that the limit you can withdraw is $200 per day as the CU is short on cash.   History repeats itself?

Yep, I just experienced the same here with the other bank ... was using their outside ATM machine - wanted $300 and the machine said “I reached my max” and didn’t process anything.  I’m like whaaat?  Since that bank has most of my money I was totally confused about being refused of access to MY money!  I left my suv at that machine and walked over to the drive thru teller (thankfully there wasn’t any cars at the time) and was talking to the teller thru their speaker because they refused to open their bank doors since I don’t have a scheduled “appointment”.  I was told $200 is the limit for ATM withdrawals per day with the use of the card. 🙁     So he manually processed $300 for me but I had to fill out a paper withdrawal slip.  While completing ... their pen runs out of ink ... oh its very cold/windy and snowing!!! 🙁    Then he couldn’t print out a slip to tell me what my remaining balance is in my checking account.  I had to use the ATM and press balance inquiry to get a print out.  Then I headed back over to the other bank with the crazy fees and deposited the money at the drive thru.  Then I parked and went into their little lobby room where the ATM machine is to get a balance print out.  I noticed thru the locked doors the workers were inside the bank with no customers and standing around “talking”.  There were 2 customers standing outside and they had appointments for 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and the bank refused to see them until then.  They eventually went back to their car to wait another hour because its too cold outside.  I then headed to the Post Office.  Their sign says everyone must stand 6 feet away if standing in line “to respect another person’s breathing space”.  I purchased stamps because I wasn’t sure if they would suddenly close their doors next.  Then I headed over to the grocery store ... the place is worse than ever with the missing food and paper products.  I was talking to one of the workers ... she was using a hand scanner and I said is that how you order supplies?  She said yes.  I said there is so many empty shelves today ... must have been chaotic over the weekend.  She said she places orders daily - ordered 600 items and only received half the order.  Everything is backlogged at the warehouses in Massachusetts.  I noticed the bakery seems to have food ... each bagel, donut, muffin were individually wrapped in clear cellophane bags with twist ties.   I noticed the courtesy desk, which isn’t processing any returns, rain checks, etc., now has plastic shields installed at their counter (kind of like you see at the bank teller booths).  There is also a sign saying everyone needs to stay 6 feet apart while waiting in the check-out line.  The end of the line for me was clear across the store in the fish dept and I just wanted to keel over while waiting. 🙁   I was praying I wouldn’t pass out because I’m sure they would have panicked thinking I had the virus. B-)

Trader Joe’s has a “process” - only 30 people at a time in the store, you stand in line, distancing yourself from each other. When a person comes out of the store, an employee wipes down the cart, you go in, check out if lined with tape on the ground, 6ft apart, you go out, starts over.....it actually works very smoothly.
My state, Virginia, just closed all schools for the year, all recreational gatherings, all restaurants must be drive thru, delivery, take-out only. Limited number of persons in grocery stores. All stores closed, except, grocery, pharmacy, hardware.
