Just wondering if any of you are preppers and if so, what are you storing? When I had tv service I used to watch the extreme prepper shows and just giggle at the over the top stuff they would do. Even the Jim Bakker show got in on the act with all sorts of gadgets. There was no way I could use his solar power outdoor rotisserie because that would have attracted every wild animal (bear, coyote, fox, raccoon) from out of the woods to my back deck and seeing them running off with my BBQ meal. And that thermal insulated bodysuit when the power goes off ... LOL... the suit was so bulky - him and his wife could barely walk in it, let alone they looked extremly uncomfortable trying to sit down in that thing. I do prep though, but not extreme. I have a supply of batteries, candles, matches. And I continually stock up on A LOT of bottled water, powdered ice tea and lemonaid mixes, fruit juices, soda, Progresso can soups since you don’t have to add water. Can veggies, can fruits, jars of peanut butter/jelly, crackers, oatmeal, granola bars, nuts, instant puddings, chocolate bars, chips, pretzels, etc. all good staple foods in case of a long emergency. Its interesting that John saw the rich hiding out in their underground luxury shelter homes thinking they were safe and secure. Amazing they see Jesus sitting on the throne in heaven and they still willfully refused to repent ... they preferred the rocks to fall on them. Rev 6: 12-16 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Geri7, I live in south Florida so every year we do some for hurricane season. I truly hope that we are long gone before things get real bad. I pray for those who think living in a bunker for who knows how long will help them. Salvation thru Jesus Christ is the best and only real way to prep. Jesus is the only real prep, no matter what happens The Lord is the only answer. Water candles batteries and such are smart for things like hurricanes , I live in a block steel reinforced building above a flood plain. So I'm praying that no matter what Jesus will take care of His Children. I hope we fly soon into His arms of love. Blake, do not fear the hurricanes. Jesus will protect you ... just let us know if a storm is heading your way and we will be praying for divine protection for you and your home! Here are some examples of how the Lord answers prayers: I’m currently living in southern Vermont. A few years ago Hurricane Irene came inland and the eye of the storm was heading across our town. I was on my cell phone Saturday night with my aunt in NJ and we were praying for divine protection over my dad’s home and our entire street. Sunday is when the storm hit. Not one single tree branch moved violently, I didn’t see any leaves or pine cones come down on our lawn. It was just a steady little rain shower that came down and my humming birds were out drinking at the feeder and not hiding in their little nests. We have a river in the backyard that runs through our property ... it was roaring and I saw white foam waves but the river waters never rose to flood our backyard or the house. We also didn’t lose electricity. The next day I was trying to drive into work. As soon as I made the turn off our street I was in total shock to see all the damage done to the other neighbors on the next street. Tree limbs down, siding and roof damage on their homes. The bridge that I normally drive across was closed because it collapsed. This is the same river water that ran through our backyard. When I finally made it into work, I found out all my unsaved co-workers had flooding, roof damage and power outage at their homes. They brought extra clothing to shower at work since one bathroom had a shower. Then another year Hurricane Sandy struck NJ. My aunt and I were praying over the phone for her and her children’s protection. All their homes were fine they all lost electricity for a day except her daughter who has 2 little babies ... she never lost power and she was the only house on her street that still had electricity! My uncle lives in a flood zone on a cul-de-sac street. He saw the water on his lawn and before it reached his home, he said he stepped on his front porch and started praying for the Lord to quickly dry up the water so it wouldn’t go into his basement. He looked out again (about an hour later) and it was all gone. Even his neighbors commented and couldn’t believe his basement wasn’t flooded. He had this testimony - He told them he prayed to Jesus to remove the water from his lawn! Another miracle happened when my parents and I were vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC. Our reservations were made a year in advance and a hurricane was suppose to hit land during the week we were there. So I prayed daily for the Lord to keep the hurricane out at sea. Every day we had nice sunny weather and had a great week. It was fun to turn on the weather channel each morning and hear the weather person say “I don’t understand this ... this is a real slow moving hurricane ... it just keeps circling around out in the Atlantic yada yada yada.” And we were laughing and thanking Jesus for answered prayers. The storm later hit but it was AFTER we checked out and were heading back home ... we were in upstate NC. Geri7- we are kinda like you as far as just stocking up here & there with extra non-perishables in case of emergency, but do pray we won't be here for anything devastating...our electricity goes off just from wind here sometimes so it's good to know we have food like peanut butter, we've also got some dehydrated type stuff and some water stored, but i probably need to add some more ready to eat type things and after a tornado warning the other day, i know we are short on working flashlights and extra batteries... i know we aren't to focus on the scary things that could happen- i'm prone to worry and the Lord has been really trying to get ahold of me lately in that area and teach me to trust ALWAYS & really allow His peace to overcome all anxiety... so, I don't want to do things out of fear, and i am fully convinced of PREtrib rapture- and almost positive it will be very very soon, but it's wise to have some provisions - especially when you live a pretty far from decent sized towns where could make purchases if stuff ran out here...so, yes, we do prepare some when we feel moved to- esp when can veggies on sale- & have never regretted it except on occasion when a tomato based item got past its expiration date (cuz i'd read most stuff can go way past,but not the acidic tomato stuff)...(plus when Boy Scouts come for food drive we always have something to give them) i loved your very encouraging testimonies of God's protection in answer to prayer!! thanks for sharing! I'm trying to feel what i do already believe- that He WILL always provide what we need...even when it means going into the lions den or furnace, but having His sustaining presence and supernatural peace...but that being said- MARANATHA -my hubby & i are sooooo ready to fly!!! I hear you Gratefulforgrace. I have to buy Poland Spring bottled water because at this condo its “city” water and I can smell the nasty chlorine. The other house I lived at had really good well water and I miss it. So when the local stores have their sales on Poland Springs ... I buy a few cases and store in my basement. I have enough for 4 months. The key is to rotate the water, can goods, etc. so they don’t expire. The Progresso soups are cheap at Walmart - only $1.59 a can. The can veggies and fruit are also cheap there as well. The Dollar Store does sell Del Monte Peaches so I get them there. I read labels because a lot of times the Dollar Store carries junk from China and other overseas countries and I avoid those items. The local grocery stores near me are small and when a snowstorm is coming they quickly run out of food ... so that is why I also like to have extra supply on hand. I can’t even imagine what its going to be like once the rapture happens. Total chaos for sure. I look at it this way ... whatever I have I’m positive someone will be breaking into my place and they can help themselves to the food/water/soda/juices. Last year I felt a few small tremors and found out I’m sitting on a quake fault line that goes straight up to Canada. Also surrounded by huge mountains on all sides sooo I don’t expect this place to be around for very long after the rapture .... Rev 6:14 .... “and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.” Maranatha to you too!
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
So never fear ... we have Jesus to call upon. :yes:
