Yikes! I was hoping we would be out of here before seeing this crazy fantasy wish of drones delivering our internet orders to our front doors or workplace. I don’t know about you but this whole concept really creeps me out. All the possibilities of things that can go wrong ... from the drone malfunctioning and either crashing into your home or vehicle or another person ... airplanes and helicopters having to be on extra alert so they avoid crashing into them ... or how about the drone dropping and damaging your order ... to hackers stealing and redirecting the drone to their hideout. Right now they are only going to deliver small 5 lb items but you know, eventually the items will be a whole lot heavier ... The online shopping giant did not give exact timing or say where the drones will be making deliveries. Amazon said its new drones use computer vision and machine learning to detect and avoid people or clotheslines in backyards when landing. “From paragliders to power lines to a corgi in the backyard, the brain of the drone has safety covered,” said Jeff Wilke, who oversees Amazon’s retail business. Wilke said the drones are fully electric, can fly up to 15 miles (24 kilometers), deliver in 30 minutes and carry goods that weigh up to 5 pounds (2.3 kilograms), like a paperback or toothpaste. Amazon has been working on drone delivery for years. Back in December 2013, Amazon CEO and founder Jeff Bezos told the “60 Minutes” news show that drones would be flying to customer’s homes within five years. But that deadline passed due to regulatory hurdles. The Federal Aviation Administration, which regulates commercial use of drones in the U.S., did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday. In April, a subsidiary of search giant Google won approval from the FAA to make drone deliveries in parts of Virginia. Wilke said that the company is working with several regulatory agencies to get approval. “We expect to do it within months,” he said - Fair Use - Yes, I agree this is creepy. Kind of a cross between the Jetsons and Frankenstein. I still cannot help but wonder if the hordes of locusts described in Revelation are not an airborne army of drones. If you have ever seen pictures of large groups of these relatively small drones, you will know exactly what I am talking about. It is creepy. I wouldn't order anything. Oye vey! I order from Amazon a lot. Can we please just leave now? Deliveries first, then spying, oh wait that already happens with technology trackers. It is very creepy indeed. We need to seriously pray for those folks that get saved after we are gone, no place to hide. :prayer-hands: I saw 3 drones in a single file flight path fly ever so slowly overhead when I was out walking my dog on a Sunday, before the sun went down. I stopped and just observed it until it finally went off into the distance. It gave me the chills and reminded me of what life is going to be like in the tribulation with all the spy technology keeping tabs on everyone. Its hard to say whether these drones were just taking aerial scenic pictures for the internet or were the police using them to see if anyone was growing Marijuana, etc. in their backyards. Actually, I think it's pretty cool! What the gov't does with this technology during the Trib has nothing to do with me. All the tech we currently possess will be used to keep surveillance on the masses but I will not be here. The technology in and of itself is not evil, it's what people do with it that makes its usage evil. There will not be any interference with helicopters or airplanes because drones are regulated by the FAA. To fly one beyond certain limits requires certification. If one crashes into your home it will break the propellers and maybe a window but they are relatively light aircraft so virtually no damage will happen to the house. (The drones we see the military use are quite different in size and scope). Some of the video I've seen taken from drones is breathtaking! Being an amateur videographer I definitely want one of these. Hmmm .... even if the drones are regulated by the FAA ... there have been cases where pilots are given approval to take off and then suddenly out of no where comes a Canadian goose and it crashes and knocks out their motor and the plane crashes. If the drones are controlled by computers ... who is to say they won’t get hacked and go haywire and crash into the planes while in flight? Wonder if you will feel the same of lovin’ the drones and thinking they are still cool if they mixed up your coffee order and dump a few boxes of Starbucks K-Cups on your doorstep. Then when you file a complaint they say “sorry you’re stuck with the order, since drones only do deliveries/no pick ups.” How would you feel then? B-) I can see in heaven having a drone for a hobby. I got a feeling you would program your drone to search for the morel mushrooms since there is a lot of territory to cover and to retrieve the slimy fish out of the river bank. B-) Just another avenue of techno worship! Speaking of plague of locust, I've seen documentaries of insect robotics/drones. Seems to me that eliminating the human factor is what it's all about. Between our manipulating DNA, texting, advanced technology, virtual reality, robotics and cyborg science the human element is being phased out. Seems to me that for every positive factor behind our technologies there always is manifested dozens of negative abuses! Not worth it!!! He says “the nation that leads in A.I. will be the ruler of the world” ... you have to wonder if this is what Israel ends up burning along with the tanks for 7 years? Yes, those locusts drones are intimidating ... how about the hummingbird ones? They, at least, look less threatening ... Capable of espionage and possible injecting of toxins, poisons or introducing viruses as well! No thanks! TR
