In my words, I can see what is being said here, how the world doesn't even know Jesus is returning. No one is watching or listening to the signs coming everyday in the world, but when your a person who loves Jesus, has experienced His love, His blessings, you know the time is drawing near, you realize true Christians are not playing any games, but our serious in their walk with Him. Staying close to Jesus is not hard because the world is so evil, it actually pushes us closer to Him, not further away. I've always liked David Wilkerson. His book "The Vision" was an interesting read in the '70's but seemed far fetched at the time. I reread the book about ten years ago and it was like reading old newspaper headlines! I like his admonishment that we should take our relationship with our Savior more seriously as many Christians hardly ever open their Bibles or spend much time in adoration of Jesus. There is absolutely nothing that can compare to spending time in His presence. :prayer-hands: With that said, I would like to make a comment or two about what Wilkerson said, if I understood it correctly, that I do not agree with. The part about true believer's still being in danger of having the door shut on them, using the parable of the virgins as his example. No true Christian, whether he/she slumbers or becomes lazy will be rejected by God. Disciplined, maybe/probably, but not rejected. Even the disciples fell asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane. Again, if I understood Wilkerson correctly, he implies that it is by our continual works that keep us saved, which I do not believe. Secondly, concerning the parable of the virgins, he implies that we can change over from a wise virgin to the foolish by running out of oil but that is not true. Oil represents the Holy Spirit and the parable represents those who have received it and those who rejected it by rejecting Christ. Salvation is available only through believing in the blood of Jesus Christ shed for the believer. Period! The role of the Christian in their own Salvation ends with his or her belief. The Holy Spirit is always given at the moment of belief, immediately sealing the believer for redemption at the last day, which is for us, the day of the Resurrection / Rapture event. All believers go in the Rapture! Sanctification includes ongoing work for the Lord and the development of a personal relationship with the Lord. This very much depends on the believer's own personal participation with, passion for, and pursuit of the Lord. His spiritual sleepiness or lackadaisical attitude could affect him in the Eternal Kingdom. Such wood, hay, and stubble being burned into oblivion... (1 Corinthians 3) Relative to "oil," the Matthew 25 virgins passage concerns the Second Coming, not the Rapture. David Wilkerson loved and served God, but could have honestly rejected dispensationalism and the pre-Trib Rapture as true, such teachings coming from his early 20th Century educational heritage within old mainline denomination seminaries -- institutions who still, by the way, widely promote amillennial teaching. (If folks listening to such lessons can stay awake.) :whistle: Even Replacement Theology still abounds. Regardless, David Wilkerson will be resurrected! Maybe he and others will be surprised to see certain individuals in the Resurrection / Rapture though. :unsure: 🙁 :scratch:
