Friends:

This was written in my youth just after I was born-again.  There were many times when I put myself in harms way without knowing that my salvation was not assured.   I was (am) grateful that God protected me from my youthful stupidity and allowed me to come to Jesus and confront my unsaved predicament.  Only through His Grace and His Mercy will I be on the right-side of Eternity.   Hallelujah!!!

I was driving the curves of a lonely mountain,

In a hurry to get to the other side,

When my eyes caught a vision of shocking despair,

As my car jumped the road and went into a slide.

The wheels started spinning and traction was scarce,

As my heart increased an extra beat,

In an instant my tires abandoned the ground,

And my car was thrust some two-thousand feet.

I braced myself as the carriage caught air,

And off the pine-ridged crest it flew,

The forces of gravity exerted their might,

“Good Lord, I’m dying – and nothing I can do!”

I know my life has been occasionally clouded,

Always racing around with my gears stuck in high,

But I never anticipated this desperate end,

“Please Lord – I’m just too young to die!”

There are so many things I’ve yet to achieve,

And so many people I’ve yet to repay,

I have so many goals and ambitions ahead,

“Oh Lord – allow me just one more day?”

An eternity elapsed as the impact grew near,

And every vision of life passed my eyes,

When suddenly my thoughts were overtaken,

By a Thundering Voice that transcended the skies.

The Words that resounded were calm and serene,

Gently easing my soul from all of its fears,

I was apprised that my life was not yet over,

The Lord heard the pleas from my youthful years.

My time on Earth had not yet concluded,

Affirmed from above by that beckoning call,

I would now be given one last chance,

And then I awoke from this fateful fall.

I was covered in sweat as I opened my eyes,

My car was parked safely within the garage,

How scary it would have been to be unprepared,

To face the reality of this eternity-altering mirage.

“Lord, thank you for allowing me one day longer,

So as to spread Your Light to my fellow man,

I am forever saved by Your amazing Grace,

And will attempt to accomplish Thy Will for as long as I can”.

Your pal,

Humbly

HI, aren’t we all grateful for His Amazing Grace. Kind of reminded me of the Carrie Underwood song, “Jesus Take the Wheel”

She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati on a snow white Christmas Eve
Going home to see her mama and her daddy with the baby in the backseat
Fifty miles to go, and she was running low on faith and gasoline
It'd been a long hard year
She had a lot on her mind, and she didn't pay attention
She was going way too fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to cry
She was so scared
She threw her hands up in the air
Jesus, take the wheel
Take it from my hands
'Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
And save me from this road I'm on
Jesus, take the wheel
It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock
And for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said, "I'm sorry for the way
I've been living my life
I know I've got to change
So from now on tonight
Jesus, take the wheel
Take it from my hands
'Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
And save me from this road I'm on."
Oh, Jesus, take the wheel
Oh, I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
From this road I'm on
Jesus, take the wheel
Oh, take it, take it from me
Oh, why, oh

Thank you for sharing from your gifted heart :prayer-hands:

Is that a Johnny Cash song? Interesting! Fits with being “dead in our trespasses and sins...” :mdrmdr: :calvin
