Well, I'm not picky about bananas, Geri, but Kolleen is. They are usually a little green and not too beat up. They can usually ripen at home. Bruised fruit? Nope. I'm sure in the last ten months since starting I've only had one dented can. Expired things aren't usually a WalMart problem either in my experience. They have high stock turnover in things I buy. Probably most things in the store. You go online to their grocery app, select from "favorites" if you have regular repeat orders of items, and also the search bar is quite good. You poke an item and select desired quantity of that item and it goes into your pickup list. They have a $35 minimum order for pickup, and there is a running total displayed at the bottom of the list. Kolleen or I can go in at any time either thinks of a needed item, for usually a few days ahead of final pickup. Last week I even ordered an item we forgot about until we were sitting in a restaurant, not on our home computers where most updates are entered. Placing your order offers an option to accept substitutions or not even on individual items instead of none whatsoever. Continuing, you select a one-hour window for pickup. When finally ready you are notified. You can call when you get there though if you don't use GPS. It works easiest with GPS enabled because when you leave wherever (home for instance) to pick up, having notified them you're on your way, they know you're coming and it estimates when you'll arrive. When you arrive their system recognizes you're there, and pops up a window where you can generally indicate your car color and the parking slot number you're in. An attendant comes out with your order, verifies your name, and loads your car. Trunk in my case. If anything has been forgotten or is incorrect, the app invites you to ask for a refund. They have been outstanding about those, no questions asked. You also retain a complete record of your purchases by date and time picked up, so it's easy in case you wonder to compare what that charge to one of your charge cards marked "walmart" with date, time, and amount was, if correct, and if/when a refund was processed. Oh, and you can also order non-grocery items and their shoppers will go out on the floor to retrieve those too, and bring them out to pickup. By the way, if they are out of an item you ordered, you are notified with an update prior to completing the order. Oh one more -- if you allow substitutes, they will also be notified as to their suggestion when they notify you it's ready. You are free to refuse a proposed substitution when you get there. Well, I like it. I recommend it. And I never have to wear a d#!*ed face mask to get my groceries! You might like it. I did go to Walmart this morning and, living in Cali, the shelves were nearly empty on cleaning aisles. They did have paper products, and dog food so that made my day. The camping section was wiped out on quite a few things. Butane and propane for camp stoves was empty. Can goods and fresh meats were low. It will probably get worse the closer we get to election... Amy, do you have a sporting goods store or even hardware store near by? You could get a make shift little portable “camp stove” folds up very small and a type of candle (like those under chafe’ dishes to keep foods warm) This will help to warm up foods like soups, etc.... Yes, I agree, in your state and mine along with a few others run by Dems will more than likely see more than our share of upheaval—— literally, earnestly praying we go home even before Election Day if God Wills! :prayer-hands: Im one of those "crazy" people that prep, and I am or was an avid backpacker so I have all kinds of stuff in case of emergency thankfully. Having tent camped since early childhood, I was well equipped to go in this direction. If anyone takes over my house or even camper, they will be able to survive food wise for about 18 mts. Have lot of “extra” stuff to help build sustainability through the 7 yrs. a lot of tracks and bibles positioned in the buckets and “stuff”. I have prayed over the supplies to meet needs and share the gospel for those left behind. I have also prayed that the supplies would not be destroyed by the destruction to come so it will help folks. If we are still here after Nov and peace is still in place, I will continue this effort.
God tells us through the Psalms and various other places in scripture to be wise and redeem the time. Good to know you have things ready for some in CA, I got south East VA working :yahoo:
