I'm pretty sure Eva was not related to David Cassidy. A few years ago I read an interview with her sister who confirmed she was a devout Christian. She lived in the DC area. Apparently she was an introvert and shunned the limelight, even to the point of turning down lucrative record company deals. People had to beg her to make a few recordings and public appearances, and she was never comfortable with it. She didn't think her voice was good enough.

This is all from memory - I'm too lazy to do the research now. I heard her rendition of Fleetwood Mac's 'Songbird' a few years after she had passed away (1996, I think) and I was blown away. Her version of Sting's 'Fields of Gold' is just as good. She also recorded quite a few gospel songs.

You would have thought somebody would make a movie of her life. Such a tragic story.

The powers that be almost never mention a persons Christian faith on the internet. Seems they always scrub that fact. Glad you knew of her faith Paul!

That's true Yohanan. Hopefully we'll be pleasantly surprised to find some entertainers in heaven who didn't sell their souls... or who repented in time. Can you imagine Elvis leading a worship service?

And Elvis was a twin!  His brother Jesse died stillborn.  So I wonder if he was gifted in musical talents as well?

I can’t wait to be going to the heavenly/millennium concert halls … like the Gaithers and all those singing groups … its going to be amazing with the praise 🙌 music to Jesus!

Paul R said … “Hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised to find some entertainers in heaven who didn’t sell their souls … or who repented in time”

Yep!  I’m so hoping David Cassidy became a believer.  We won’t know until the other side.

When he was ill … I lurked on his FB page and there were a few fans that were witnessing and praying for him … they urged him to call out to Jesus for healing and for salvation.

Then I read his nephew, Jack, seems to be a believer and I saw he posted pics of him and Susan Dey had visited David while he was on his death bed at the hospital … so I’m hoping David might have called out to Jesus?

Here is his nephew Jack with Susan Dey, he is the son of Patrick, David’s half brother.

Per ChristianPost.com

Jack Cassidy, the nephew of David Cassidy has released a new Christian single, titled “Run at the Giant”, after overcoming drug addiction.

The song explores his story of overcoming drug abuse, which he pegs as the giant in his own life. Cassidy comes from a famous family, starting with his grandmother, Oscar Award-winning actress Shirley Jones. His uncles David and Shaun Cassidy were both teen pop stars, and the talent in the family continues with his parents and now him.

“The Voice” contestant is open about his past public battles with depression and anxiety, which led to his addiction as a way to self medicate and numb the pain.

Cassidy’s drug of choice at the time of his addiction was cocaine until one night in the midst of an overdose he dropped to his knees and begged God to save him. He felt as if he was having a heart attack and he believes the Lord kept him alive.

“Run at the Giant” is Cassidy’s “David and Goliath” story, where through God, he testifies that he was able to overcome cocaine but also struggles with fear, rebellion, self-worth, mental illness and even atheism.  Cassidy wants his song to encourage others to defeat the giants in their life.

The following is an edited transcript of The Christian Post’s interview with Cassidy about his new single

“Let’s talk about your single “Run at the Giant” and how this song came to be

Run at the Giant” is about how the biggest hurdles and challenges in our lives, even the things that have completely crippled us, are now possible to face and to overcome now that God is with us, and is working on us, and teaching us to change in Faith.

My family has allowed music to feel comfortable for me, to feel like I’m at home when I’m doing what I’m doing because I was such a prevalent part of how I bonded with my family and how I expressed myself emotionally.

Though they know the struggles and unsteadiness of the music industry, my family is in full support of what I’m doing with my career and mission.

Can you share more about the role your faith plays in your music and how it influences what you write?

Because my faith is the number one thing in my life and has such deep emotional meaning that resonates with me, and because of my background playing in church and leading multitudes into the presence of God, music naturally became intertwined with my relationship with God.  To the point now where every time I go to write a song, I pretty much can’t help but write to Jesus, or at least something about love and spirituality.

You’re stirring up memories, Geri… what a talented young boy David Cassidy was. As a teenager in the 70s I had a similar hairstyle to David – much to my father’s disgust! I didn’t see the Partridge Family sitcom, but songs like ‘I Think I Love You’ are etched in my memory. Maybe we’ll come across a handsome young man with long flowing locks humming the tune of ‘Daydreamer’ when we get to heaven… Maybe soon.

:mdrmdr:   LOVE it! :good:     You can get the whole series for only $14.99 … a few years ago it was just under $20 and I got my older California brother to buy it as well.  He was a mega fan and tried to get his hair like David’s as well and since our dad’s birthday is April 12th (like Davids) he would use that too as brownie points to get the gurls to favor him since he couldn’t quite get the shag style just so. :mdrmdr:    We both enjoyed watching these classic  DVD’s again.  I missed a lot because I was so young (2nd grade) so the DVD’s were like brand new to me.  In 2nd grade my teacher wanted us to write in our diaries what we liked and disliked.  I kept writing I LOVE the Partridge family. And as she read them, she wrote back … me too, isn’t David dreamy?!! :mdrmdr:    So he captivated even the middle age 40 year old teachers.  I looked forward to writing in that diary as we talked about each episode and/or song.   They had such GREAT talented writers for their bubble gum pop hits.   My favorites off the top of my head are …

Brown Eyes
Summer Days
I’ll meet you half way
I would of loved you anyway
24 hrs a day girl
That’ll be the day
I’ll leave myself a little time
I think I love you
