What a grand idea Kolleen!

Thinking this morning about how close the Lord is to us, and much of the time we are unaware of it. Not a hair falls from your head without the Lord knowing about it!

I've mentioned before that sometimes I change the words of secular songs to worship Him. Well, I've found that while I'm working a tune just pops into my head -- for no apparent reason -- and then as the tune develops in the back of my mind, I recall the words. Yesterday I found myself softly singing the words to Carole King's song You've Got a Friend, and I realized that the Lord was giving me a message. I'm sure most of you know the words:

You just call out my name / And you know wherever I am / I'll come running... to see you again etc

I just felt the Lord prompting me to share this with you, and to say that this is a special invitation to all of us here at RITAN: "Just call out my Name".

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall / All you have to do is call! / And I'll be there, yes I will / You've got a Friend!

Just for fun I Googled this song and this is what I found (Wikipedia):

"You've Got a Friend" was written by Carole King during the January 1971 recording sessions for her own album Tapestry and James Taylor's album Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon. King has stated that "the song was as close to pure inspiration as I've ever experienced. The song wrote itself. It was written by something outside myself, through me."

I was deep cleaning yesterday and found this poem I saved … came from when I bought Bible tracts … it was one of their sample tracts …  its called

Prayer for those who live Alone    (But I’m sure it will also apply to those who are married and live with an unsaved spouse or one who is just not compatible)

I live alone, dear Lord,

Stay by my side.

In all my daily needs,

Be Thou my guide.

Grant me good health.

For that indeed, I pray,

to carry on my work

from day to day.

Keep pure my mind,

my thoughts, my every deed.

Let me be kind, unselfish

in my neighbor’s need.

Spare me from fire, from flood,

malicious tongues,

from thieves, from fear,

and evil ones.

If sickness or

an accident befall,

then humbly, Lord, I pray,

hear Thou my call.

And when I’m feeling low,

or in despair,

lift up my heart,

and help me in my prayer.

I live alone, dear Lord,

yet have no fear,

because I feel Your presence

ever near.  Amen.

- Fair Use -

Thank you Paul! That you felt that sentiment was for me today, as well as all of us. That was very meaningful for me, thank you! :rose:

A member did request such a thread as this, and it was fun to create. :rose:

Here is an instrumental version Paul of You've God a Friend, for you and anyone to insert christian phrasing for it that comes to mind.
