My suggestion is to always call the insurance company. Terry is right. What if she decides to sue? The cost to you would be substantially more than any deductible from the insurance company. A police report should have been taken as in most states, it is a crime to leave the scene of an accident also. Insurance will require a police report anyway. hello everyone, thank you so much for your responses. I couldn't post yesterday because I couldn't log in. I am in Ontario. A minor collision with no injuries has to be reported within 48 hours. I called my insurance company and told them what happened. I also told them that I was disoriented and in shock so I have no info on the other drivers. Only a name and a phone number (and it could be wrong) the agent said he will call that number. the town I was in was almost in the middle of nowhere. there are farms and a few houses. the collision should have been reported there, but the agent told me there is no need to drive all the way up there to go to a centre. personally, I am not making any claims. damage is relatively minor. If in 2 or 3 weeks, they don't hear from the other driver, they will close the file. I prefer it closed and forgotten.
