Poll: Most Believe Biden Admin Allowing Gas Prices to Rise to Get Americans off Fossil Fuels:

Most voters believe the Biden administration is allowing gas prices to rise to force Americans to use less fossil fuel, a Convention of States Action/Trafalgar Group survey released Friday found.  The survey asked, “Do you believe the Biden Administration is intentionally letting gas prices rise to make Americans use less fossil fuels?”

Most, 53 percent, said “yes,” they believe the Biden administration is allowing it to happen purposely to force Americans to use less fossil fuel.

“Here’s what your president did when he first came to office,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) told Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm during a hearing last month.

“He immediately reentered the Paris Climate Accord. He canceled the Keystone Pipeline. He halted leasing programs in ANWR. He issued a 60-day halt on all new oil and gas leases and drilling permits on federal lands and waters. That’s nationwide,” he said.  “He directed federal agencies to eliminate all supports for fossil fuels. He imposed new regulations on oil and gas and methane emissions. Those were all just in the first few days. Are you telling me that had no effect on our energy supply?”

Oh, I think it was about 1 1/2 years ago, SoReady.  It was really nice to be able to modify mistakes in my posts long after the five minutes that we are now limited to.  I think I have only asked Kolleen once to repair one of my posts later. :mail:

By the way, I have never tasted a Bellini Cocktail.  Maybe Yohanan will make me one sometime up there... that is, if he once again Bellini's.  :mdrmdr:

Red wave incoming: Republican Mayra Flores flips Texas region that Democrats have controlled for 150 years:

Republican Mayra Flores accomplished a feat on Tuesday that Democrats only wish they could imitate.

Flores won a special election for Texas' 34th congressional district, defeating Democrat Dan Sanchez 51% to 43%. She will assume office this month and will only hold the seat until January. She is the Republican nominee for the general election in November.

Flores' victory is historically significant for several reasons.

First, Flores is the first Mexican-born woman to win election to Congress; she was born in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, which borders the United States.

Second, and most important, Flores' victory substantiates a growing theory that Hispanic Americans are departing the Democratic Party in droves. Texas' 34th congressional district is majority Hispanic, and that region has been dominated by Democrats for 150 years, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Compounding the significance of Flores' victory is the fact that just 10 years ago, then-President Barack Obama won the 34th district by a whopping 23 points over Mitt Romney. In 2016, Hillary Clinton carried the district by 22 points over Donald Trump.

After she won the election, Flores promised her new constituents to actually represent their interests — not take them for granted.

With Recession Now Guaranteed, The "One-Term" White House Begins To Panic:

. . . a recession by the start of 2024, barely even on the radar of most economists just a few months ago (if not this site), is now virtually assured at close to a three-in-four probability.

Bloomberg next repeats - with a long delay - something else we said all the way back in December, namely that the Fed outsized rate hike has pushed the economy into a recession...

On Wednesday the Fed delivered its biggest interest-rate hike in almost three decades, as it takes the fight against inflation into overdrive. When central bankers try this hard to slow the economy down, they often end up tipping it into outright reverse.

. . .absent a miracle a recession is now unavoidable, which also means that Biden is a one-termer:

The economic collapse on deck also means that Democrats are about to unleash the gaslighting machine like never before, blaming everyone and everything, from Putin, to Yellen, to Exxon, to climate change. . . .In short, get ready for another surprise, "emergency" shock meant to distract from Biden's economy and Powell's galloping inflation and bear market. Only, after the fiasco that was the monkeypox false start, it's difficult to visualize what - short of a staged war over Taiwan - the Biden propaganda machine will come up with.

I know churchgal. But it seems to have caused some to not go through with their abortions. If it goes far and wide, it may change many more minds. :rose: I'll put it on facebook and hope it's not removed.
