Rita brothers and sisters - I thought I'd share with you the devotional I wrote for the church I pastor today. I hope it encourages your hearts! Jesus is Coming Again! While reading my Bible today, my mind kept going to the coming again of our Lord. I am longing for Him! In Psalm 90, I read, Return, O LORD! How long? And have compassion on your servants (vs. 13). In Isaiah 35, I read, Say to those who are fearful-hearted, ‘Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, He will come and save you.’ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water; in the habitation of jackals, where each lay, there shall be grass with reeds and rushes (vss. 4-7). And then I read in Revelation 5, And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals” (vss. 1-5). In the above passages, we find a longing for Christ’s return, then we see the promise of Christ’s return, and finally the worthiness of Christ alone to return and save His people. Sometimes I wonder, “Perhaps today is the day that the question will be asked – “Who is worthy?” - and Jesus will open the scroll!” and how I long for it! My thoughts are then sometimes overwhelmed with, “But you’ve hoped for that before… so have generations before you….” But we are not to be afraid or disheartened. Jesus is coming again! And He is coming very soon, because He has promised to, and He is worthy to do so! Don’t give up, precious children of God. Hang on tight to Him. He’s coming back, and plans to sweep you off your feet. May this thought be an encouragement to your hearts today.
