Wow ... this article is intriguing ... if we don’t leave this month ... I got my eyes glued to Ascension Day May 13th      vs.    Pentecost Sunday, May 23rd but on the  Chabad calendar its 6 days earlier ... Monday, May 17th.  So would that also change Ascension Day from Thursday, May 13th to Friday, May 7th?

Oh .... and lets add the rumors of wars fireworks  ... I heard the war between Russian and Ukraine kick-off might start around the middle of May ...

Pentecost, Peter, Joel and Pastor Riley's "Another Viewpoint On Pentecost"

Last week 4 Apr 2021, Pastor Riley had a letter to Doves, "Another Viewpoint On Pentecost" that's very interesting.  I thought it was going to be another letter about, "the Church was born on Pentecost and so the Church will be removed via the Rapture on Pentecost" - but it is not.
Another Viewpoint On PENTECOST

Pastor Riley wrote, "I don't find a thing mentioned in Acts 2 about a rapture taking place on that day."

What we find in Act 2 is: TONGUES likes flames of fire came upon the apostles and they began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them...thus the TONGUES.  And what were they saying?  They were talking about the wonderful things God had done!  The mighty deeds, wonderful works of God!

When the people were asking what does this mean?  How is this possible that we hear about God in our own language?  Are these men drunk?

Peter speaks to their concerns and as he is filled with the Holy Spirit, he says:  Listen carefully to my words - pay attention!  He goes on and tells them that what they are witnessing is what Joel told them what would happen.

But was this what was happening on that Pentecost/Shavuot?  No. The people were being told about the wonderful works of God - not about the last days! The Holy Spirit would not lie or deceive.  The Holy Spirit was guiding Peter to tell them what Joel had prophesied for the 'last days'.  This is NOT what was going on that day.

So why would Peter be led to by the Holy Spirit to quote Joel??

I believe it's because on some FUTURE Pentecost this will be what's going on!  And, possibly not the Rapture.  The fulfillment of end times prophecy!  The arrival of The Last Days time period.

This is what Peter said:
In Joel 2:28:  ...I will pour out My Spirit on all people.  Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

Joel 2:30:   "I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke."

Joel 2:31:  "The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and awesome Day of the Lord."

Joel 2:32:  "And everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved; (Peter stops quoting here) for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance as the Lord has promised, among the remnant called by the Lord."

Peter went on to tell the people to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins, then they will receive the Holy Spirit.

It doesn't look like anyone was prophesying , nor were there any wonders in the heavens or on the earth - no blood and fire or smoke.  The sun was not turned to darkness, nor the moon turned to blood.  This was NOT happening on that day ....at Peter's time.

I believe this will be what occurs on a future Pentecost AFTER the Rapture has occurred.  The wonders in the heavens and earth, the sun turned black and the moon turned red.  When this happens....the Jewish people, and Christians will note the day - Shavuot (Feast of Weeks), Pentecost.  Many will make the connection of the terrible events with day Shavuot/Pentecost and will seek for more information...what does the Bible tell us about this?  They will find Joel 2 and Acts 2.  Both have that same information.  So Jews will find it.  So Christians will find it.

Going back to Pastor Riley's letter - he writes that he finds "a transfer of spiritual authority taking place on that day."  "...the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on the Lord's church on Pentecost was a transfer of authority from Israel to the Lord's church to serve as God's representative on the earth.  Prior to that time, it was the nation of Israel and the Jewish people through whom God had spoken to mankind on the earth."

He says this all changed on Pentecost - Israel was no longer "God's spokesmen", but would be again when "the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled".  When the rapture of the Lord's church happens and the believers are no longer on earth the 'spiritual authority and power' will be transferred back to the 'nation and people of Israel'.  Pastor Riley sees this transfer of authority occurring on Pentecost - on some future Pentecost.  Possibly resulting in the 144,000 Jewish witnesses selected by God, and sealed on their foreheads - servants of God.  Like 3,000 were saved for the Lord on Pentecost during Peter's day...and on some future Pentecost 144,000 will be saved for the Lord.

Joel 2 that Peter quotes from is about the coming Day of the Lord...He will pour out His Spirit on all people.  Sons and daughters will prophesy.  Old men will have dreams.  Young men will have visions.  The heavens and earth will have blood, fire, smoke..the sun will turn to darkness, the moon to blood - before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.

This is about Israel - the Jewish people.  The Lord says 'My people', 'My holy mountain', 'blow the ram's horn in Zion'.  He pleads with 'my people' to return to Him with fasting, weeping, and mourning.  Joel 2 is about the Jewish people and nation.  He asks them to "consecrate a fast, proclaim a sacred assembly'.

What is prophesied in Joel 2 comes AFTER the Rapture.  Pastor Riley writes, "This prophecy in Joel 2 is a prophecy of the future outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the nation and people of Israel after the Lord's church and NT believers have been removed from the earth by the rapture.  A transfer of spiritual authority and power back to Israel."

The Holy Spirit is leading Peter to talk and prophesy about the future using Joel's words!  Two things were happening that day - the arrival of the Holy Spirit promised by Jesus and the prophesying of what will happen right before the Day of the Lord.  The Holy Spirit arrived on Pentecost. Why would Joel's prophecy not be fulfilled on that day?

Counting of the Omer begins on 15 Nissan and ends on with Omer Day 49 on 5 Sivan.  As 6 Sivan begins.  6 Sivan is the 'chosen' date to celebrate Shavuot...just to keep the people celebrating the festival on the same day.  6 Sivan is May 17, 2021 on the chabad.org calendar.  Using the new moon of the start of the biblical new year, Shavuot/Pentecost is May 17, 2021. This is actually 4 Sivan.  So either way...the day, for us, is May 17.  (dates may differ depending on which Jewish calendar is used and remember, Jewish days are sunset to sunset.)

This is the only 'count of days' that is required of the people by the Lord concerning His High Holy Days - it is a count to something very important, very special.  Could it be counting to a future Pentecost that Peter refers to? That Joel refers to?

My other letter to Doves, "Ascension Day Rapture, 2021", speculates about an Ascension Day Rapture.  IF that happens, there would be a gap of days (warning days) up to Pentecost.  While the counting of the Omer finishes up.  And during that time Joel's prophesy could come true.  He speaks about a great and terrible northern army that storms the city, then God drives them away.  Could this be the Gog War?

Joel 2:1  :  "Let all who dwell in the land tremble for the Day of the Lord is coming: indeed, it is near - a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness.  Like the dawn overspreading the mountains a great and strong army appears, such as never was of old, nor will ever be in ages to come....They storm the city...before them the earth quakes, the heavens tremble, the sun and moon grow dark, and the stars lose their brightness...The Lord raises His voice in the presence of His army...For the day of the Lord is great and very dreadful.  Who can endure it?....Blow the ram's horn in Zion, consecrate a fast, proclaim a sacred assembly..."Spare your people, O Lord"....and He spared His people....The northern army I will drive away from you...And its stench will rise and its foul odor will ascend.

Could we have the Rapture on Ascension Day, the Gog War between Ascension Day and Shavuot, then the Tribulation starts with the Fall High Holy Days?  I place the Gog War before Shavuot because Joel continues:  "And afterward (after the northern army is destroyed) I will pour out My Spirit on all people.  Your sons and daughters will prophesy.....the sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and awesome Day of the Lord."  So the worst is yet to come - the Day of the Lord!

Will the 'times of the Gentiles be fulfilled' on Shavuot/Pentecost THIS year?  This time period started when Jerusalem was destroyed some time after the Holy Spirit was sent on Pentecost.  Some think it will end when the Messiah returns to earth.  Some think it will end with the Rapture of the Church.

"And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."  Luke 21:24.

I believe we are fast approaching the end of the times of the Gentiles.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Maranatha!
