VERY interesting that the “twinkling of an eye” refers to that moment when the sun, moon and earth are aligned! I take to the view that only our bodies are changed in the twinkling process but the going up ... flying away is much much much slooower. This I Corinthians 15 passage only talks about the twinkling happening for the glorified body ... doesn’t mention anything about the flying Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. And in this ... I Thessalonians 4 passage there are 3 colons indicating a sequence and a slight break in time ... For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. ———— And in Acts 1:9-11 the disciples saw with their naked eye Jesus flying up in the clouds ... it wasn’t in a twinkling of an eye. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Elijah flew away in a fiery chariot ... that wasn’t in a twinkling of an eye. For all we know Enoch could have also flew up slooowly. We just assume his flight out was quick but it might not have been ... Genesis 5 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Here’s a thought ... since Enoch represents the church and flying out before judgement came with the Flood ... I wonder if he will also receive his glorified body at the same time ... at the rapture event with us? :unsure: The fact that we often speaking of nations rather than individuals, speaks to the epic scope of God's end time events!
