Hello siblings,

This happened when I was a child. I was in the Middle East. We were driving to a town when we were stopped by Syrian soldiers. they asked for an Id, where are we going....... then the Syrian soldier looked at the back of the car and stared at me. he stared for a while. I was very frightened and the other people in the car were too. He asked me what was my name, I told him. He kept staring at me. I could tell that he thought I was cute/pretty and God knows what was on his mind. He could have taken me out of the car and who knows what would have happened. the Syrian army can be real savages. anyway, he kept staring at me and then all of a sudden he said Go! and we drove away.

I never forgot this incident. a couple of months ago, I saw the whole thing again (image in my mind) I saw the soldier staring at me, then I saw an angel appear by his side and fling his arm in front of the soldier (it formed a barrier between the soldier and the car) and that's when the soldier told us to go.

Hope this encourages someone.

~I was struck by the sweet answer Lisaleenie gave . . I do imagine how she truly is enjoying Jesus and His affection for her now and she for Him ~

~and for all His children there?~~~ such is the Kingdom of Heaven

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisaleenie writes:   "Yes, I definitely think that Jesus was affectionate. Why else would children respond to Him in such a positive way? They don't respond to sour, unaffectionate people.
He would touch the leper...something that no one even dared (or wanted) to do. He could have healed them by His Word alone, but He choose to touch them...which must have meant the world to them, considering that everyone recoiled when they came near them.
And remember the woman who cried and kissed His feet and wiped her tears with her hair? She would not have felt comfortable doing such a loving gesture if she had not seen and sensed His love and His affection for others.
Some of my most exciting expectations of Jesus’ return occurred in September 2015!  I was talking up the heck out of all the excitement we here at RITA were enjoying, forwarding warnings found elsewhere on the internet, wondering about Scottie’s Eternal Rhythm Flow claims, marveling about a compendium of “facts” citing 80 plus reasons why September 2015 was the almost guaranteed time, and my asserting to a few of my previous unbelieving co-workers, (I had retired nine months earlier), the certainty of believers in Jesus being gone within a couple weeks.  Also, beginning at the end of August, my Seniors’ Sunday School class asked me to share my notably exuberant certainties about the coming Rapture. They gave me three consecutive weeks.
Remember September 2015, the highly-favored Rosh Hashanah / Trumpets on Monday September 14, then Yom Kippur / Atonement on September 23, and the fourth blood moon of the tetrad on the next Monday September 28 to kick off Tabernacles / Sukkot. And the utter amazement about the remarkable prophetic significance of the Pope meeting with “O” on the Day of Atonement, then later the Pope addressing the US Congress, and then two days later on September 25, at a basilica in Philadelphia if I recall correctly, the Pope declared in a speech intended to encourage his flock, “the failure of the Cross.”  Wow!  What a time!  We just had to go!  Didn’t you think so too? But sadly I woke up in bed on September 29, still here.  “But Tabernacles is a whole week, isn't it! So maybe / surely / by the end of Tabernacles we’ll be outta’ here!"
And Jesus never came.
Then the month on the calendar rolled into October. Some watchers said, “Don’t worry, folks. There really was an extra month not counted, and so the “real” feast days are actually going to be occurring this month.”  But then October came and went.  And November.  Even Dusty’s perennial proposal that during Channukah we could expect the Rapture, passed.  December, complete with that miserable “don’t you dare say Merry Christmas” pall over the season, ended 2015’s wimpy demise...  A kind of watcher hell, or purgatory, or something similar, had deflated me.
And Jesus never came.
Plodding along into 2016 I recall perhaps being the most depressed I have ever in my life been by Purim 2016.  Coincidentally I had the flu that Spring for a few miserable weeks.  I marked time primarily out of habit, generally hopeful for Purim, and then Passover, and then Pentecost, but languishing emotionally way lower than the rear end of a toad.
And Jesus never came.
Okay, your turn to reminisce now...
(By the way, and for whatever it’s worth, right now I may be more excited than ever before.) :yahoo:  :yahoo:
Hi BSFC123, I really appreciate your post. It came straight from your heart and I'm sure each of us can relate to how you are feeling. I wholeheartedly agree with Yohanan. It is about balance. There have been many threads on this subject and I can tell you that the mature Christians on this site have very good insight on your concerns. Maybe some of the mods could post a thread so you can read back through it. The way I look at it, it's not about how much we watch or don't watch on this site! it's about fellowship. It's about knowing that we have other people that are more interested in Jesus than the world. It's about being a watchman and believe me, it's not for everyone. This site has many blessings to offer. Whether you need fellowship, encouragement or simply prayer we are always there for you. As far as the watch dates and high alerts I pray we never stop! If it weren't for the watchers than our main stream media would have control over what we see and don't see. You are very blessed to have a Dad that knows how to occupy until He comes and I agree with your Dad 100%. The difference for me is that I didn't grow up with a Christian family that knows the Lord like your Dad does. Every story is different and in my case, I don't want to miss a beat! I have already discovered that I was chosen to be that wise and faithful servant whom His master finds watching when He comes. I get frustrated sometimes because I also get told that, "People have been saying that Jesus would return since I was a kid." That did concern me at one time until I read it in the bible- yes! Jesus said that too! I believe we should occupy until He comes. We are to be joyful and to be a light to others, however, we are also commanded to watch and that's where the balance thing comes in. We will continue to have ups and downs and disappointments when we watch but believe me I've tried the other way and that's when I truly lose my joy. I think our joy is in the watching. I just wanted to give you another perspective because I enjoy your posts and I enjoy your fellowship on RITAN. Thank you BSFC123! Many blessings to come my friend. * :)
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Mathew 24:42
They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3:4
"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? Mathew 24:45
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. Luke 19: 12-13
