Using 1,100 tons of explosives, the Israeli military said on Thursday that it had demolished a “strategic” underground facility belonging to the Hezbollah terror group beneath a mountainous ridge in southern Lebanon.

The Ali Taher Ridge is located within Israel’s southern Lebanon buffer zone, near Nabatieh. According to the Israel Defense Forces, the tunnel systems under Ali Taher served as the “nerve center” of the terror group’s Badr regional division — a unit tasked with the area of southern Lebanon that is north of the Litani River.

Seismic systems also detected the explosion as a 4.1-magnitude earthquake, the United States Geological Survey said.

Inside the two tunnels — spanning over two kilometers — troops found dozens of Iranian-made rockets, missiles and drones, along with firearms, anti-tank missiles, and hundreds of mines and other explosives, the military said.

The tunnel also featured “command centers, weapons rooms, generator rooms, living quarters, showers, and a kitchen,” which the IDF said enabled Hezbollah operatives “to conduct fighting and remain there for extended periods.”

... Washington is closely monitoring “calls from Southern Lebanon, where people are demanding their government assert sovereignty and stop Hezbollah from firing and storing weapons in their communities.”

The survey, conducted by the Jerusalem Media and Communication Centre in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, found that 55.8% of Palestinians now view peaceful negotiations as the best way to achieve their national goals—up from 28% in September 2023.

Support for armed “resistance” fell from 37.1% to 13.3% over the same period.

Backing for a two-state solution rose to 47.9%, compared with 27.3% before October 7. Support for a single binational state fell to 21.7%, while 18.6% favored establishing a Palestinian state across all of Israel.

In Judea and Samaria, 50.1% of respondents said the October 7 attacks harmed Palestinian national interests, up from 35.2% in September 2025.

Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Wednesday that Iran could launch an attack on Israel during the upcoming Jewish holiday period, saying the country is closely monitoring Tehran and is prepared to respond with overwhelming force if targeted.

Speaking at the “Decision Time: Democracy and Society” conference hosted by Yedioth Ahronoth and the Israel Democracy Institute, Katz said Israeli officials are conducting continuous assessments as renewed fighting between Iran and the United States raises the possibility that Tehran could widen the confrontation to include Israel.

“The prime minister and I are following this on a daily basis together with the IDF, sometimes in the middle of the night on the red phone,” Katz said.

“We are not taking any information lightly. We do not want to be surprised. We are prepared.”

That is important, because the more they hide and flee, the more difficult it becomes for them to carry out operations against us."
