Lakepointe Church announced that 882 baptisms had taken place across several of their campuses in the Dallas, Texas, area on September 27.

In a social media post, the church said, “There are few things more powerful than watching someone publicly say, ‘My life belongs to Jesus.’ This weekend, 882 people were baptized across Lakepointe Church.”

Death rates among young Americans have surged dramatically, with the mortality rate for adults aged 25 to 44 jumping 71.2% between 2010 and 2021, the largest increase of any age group.  This rise is driven by a combination of external causes, such as drug overdose, and early-onset diseases.

Drug overdoses are the leading cause of death for young adults and have multiplied sevenfold since 1999.  Suicides have risen more than 40% since 2000.  Homicides increased 75.5% between 2014 and 2021 and vehicle accidents rose 43.5% during the same period.

Deaths from diabetes, hypertensive disease and alcoholic liver disease have also spiked sharply.  Deaths from alcohol-related mental health disorders more than tripled between 2010 and 2023.

... 28% agreed (and 6% were unsure) that “as culture changes, some biblical truths become obsolete” and 34% said, “I accept some truths from the Bible, but others just don’t fit what I believe.” (The younger the churchgoer, the more likely they were to agree with these two statements).

It’s worth noting that the study also found that 82% of churchgoers “believe the truth of God’s Word can mean different things to different people.” 

God’s Word is not a spiritual buffet for us to put what we want on our plate and reject what we don’t want. God’s Word—all of it—is the revelation of the one true God who has given us the key information we need to build the right worldview so we can understand God, His world, our sinful condition, and what He did to save us.

God’s Word is not obsolete. Although certain passages from the Levitical Law may not be directly applicable to us today, the principles still apply and are instructive for us, especially regarding God’s holiness and man’s sinfulness.

President Donald Trump's former press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has landed a new job. Starting November 1, she will work for Fox News, The New York Times reports.

Leavitt, who left her previous position at the White House in August after becoming a mother for the second time earlier this year, is expected to appear as a commentator on several of the channel's television programs, the newspaper writes.

Violent Muslims and leftists wreaked havoc across France on Friday, setting fire to everything they could, including people. Many of the protesters were African and Arab students. Riot police clashed with teenagers in several French cities as roughly 400 high schools were closed. At last count, almost 2,000 people had been arrested as the government blamed leftists for the upheaval.

In Strasbourg, police deployed tear gas. Protesters launched fireworks toward police lines in Marseille, and in Rennes, garbage bins were set on fire. Clashes also broke out in Paris, according to Reuters. Le Monde reports that anywhere between 200,000 and 300,000 protesters, including students, teachers, and public-sector workers, protested across France’s main cities on Tuesday, demanding solutions to the loss of purchasing power and more resources in addition to the pre-existing demands of the students.

The violence started a week ago. Hundreds of students were arrested as school blockades and clashes spread across the country on Thursday, according to Fox News. Hundreds of schools have been burned down, as well as vehicles and churches set on fire.

French security officials have reportedly identified individuals and vandals who are not related to schools who have incited violence during the protests, described by witnesses as “hooded, dressed all in black,” and with their faces concealed by masks. Sounds like Antifa. Many others look like communists.

“The students’ grievances about missing teachers and deteriorating schools were real at first,” Rodan-Benzaquen claimed. “But dousing a principal in gasoline and attacking firefighters are acts of extreme violence. What makes this politically significant is the effort to turn frustration over schools into a much broader confrontation with the government.”
