BRAVO, BRAVO Rich E that was very good. You are right there is no marriage in Heaven as we know it here. But there is the marriage supper of the Lamb, don’t forget!! And that is certainly not like earthly marriage.
The earthly covenant of marriage is till death do us part. If a partner dies, the spouse is free both legally by man's law, and God's law to marry again. If a person on earth can have more than one spouse because of death, then surely after death when we get to Heaven, God knows who the perfect companion is for us, because He is the one who created you to be one. So everyone who is married on earth is not necessarily married to their covenant companion. Many people remarry after the death of a spouse, meaning they have had two spouses, but in Heaven they only have one companion. God created you and knows you best, and knows who He created to be your perfect companion. In Heaven all will be made right. I hope that gives you encouragement.

Here is a quote from my Dad, Oden Hetrick:
Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.” I Corinthians 11:11
“But THE CHIIDREN (men and women) OF THE RESURRECTION ... DO NOT DIE."
(Covenant companions) are eternal, spiritual beings like angels. Only they are more than angels. They are sons and daughters of God. Jesus did not cancel companionship in Heaven, He is simply explaining that resurrected beings who do not die, do not reproduce. And just like the tabernacle was a copy of the true, so earthly marriage foreshadows a future, permanent, greater union in Heaven between spiritual beings, feminine and masculine.
MAN'S DEEPEST NEED IS FOR GOD, AND HIS DEEPEST DESIRE IS FOR A COMPANION.
Yes, it will be the utmost joy to be in communion with our Beloved Savior in Heaven all the time. The Spirit controls everything in Heaven that is why it is such a peaceful joyful place. We will not have the earthly cares and sorrows, disagreements and shortcomings to deal with up there, like we have in earthly relationships. You will not have to take care of anyone, Yahshua does all that in Heaven. And the intimacies in Heaven are infinitely more satisfying and glorious than anything on earth.
Heart and Soul » So, if there ARE relationships after the resurrection, could it be someone who was created for us from the very beginning? Maybe. If the companions were made by God then there would be no need for a marriage. A union NOT made for a physical relationship, but as a companion in serving Him.
Heart and Soul --- very very good way to put it
Thank you Terrence for putting the link for more detailed answers. And BTW I knew my Dad very well and know His visions are true!!!
Rich E » I know people will say the love of God will overshadow all of our current earthly feelings, but like the law, which Christ came to fulfill and not replace, I don't believe God will take away anything but the sorrow and pain and will only add to what we experience now.
In Mark 10:6-8 Jesus says: "But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” God joined Adam & Eve; they weren't married or given in marriage. And for anyone thinking it, becoming one flesh has nothing to do with sex.
Bravo again Rich E
admin » The way I see it: if Yahweh does indeed have someone intended for us as a companion for all eternity, it will likely be one He created specifically to match all of our needs & perfectly compliment our giftings. It may or may not be the one we chose on earth.
perfect way to put it!!!
Rich E » The oneness that Jesus prayed for in John, goes well past the intimacy of a man-woman relationship. Since there is no other thing on earth, God relates it to marriage. It's an impossible thing to comprehend here on earth. I believe God used the term "Bride of Christ", because that is the maximum form of intimacy we know. What other better celebration is there but a marriage banquet.
sounds like a good explanation to me.
Concerning bodies in Heaven
I Cor 15:49-53 says this mortal must put on immortality, and this corruptible must put on incorruption. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
We will have a glorified body like Yahshua, and He could walk thru walls!!!! What other exciting things will we be able to do up there!! Oh well if you don't think walking thru walls is exciting, I'm sure Yahshua will have something just for you!!!:) :)[/quote]
And just for the record NJ city bound -- I assure you we do have more than one garment in Heaven! Just exactly to suit your taste.
“You have captured my heart, my treasure, my bride. You hold it hostage with one glance of your eyes, with a single jewel of your necklace.”
—Song Of Solomon 4:9
