thanks. but hardly anyone finishes the thought in 1 cor 2 by going to the next sentence 1 Cor 2:10 "But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God." so to the believer has been given knowledge of what God has prepared for us.

I hope perhaps soon we will be there are all things will be answered.

Hi, Czarpaul! I can't answer definitively the question about what capabilities the glorified body might have, or whether the things Jesus did after the resurrection are applicable to us. We'll have to wait and see exactly how it works.

The one thing I would like to suggest is that no such abilities (if any) would take place outside the knowledge, will, or blessing of God. He will place us where we ought to be at all times; we will not be acting as completely free agents, stumbling into situations where we have no business. Of that much, I am confident.

The same can be said for knowing the thoughts of others, if we are not meant to know them. My guess is that we will not be capable of making a mess of things, as we so often do in this life, through ignorance. With the Lord in control of all things, I am not concerned about running my mouth and hurting someone's feelings, for example. Just speculating, of course. David R

Paul, that's an interesting question.

I think the answer is multi-faceted. There is some evidence that even the unsaved will have similar bodies as well. They will be placed in a location that would destroy our current bodies in a few seconds. They will see God, on Judgment day, and will not cease to exist, but if that were to happen in these bodies He would destroy us.

Similarly, today it is the same nerves that give us pleasure or pain.

How far is Heaven from earth? We don't know because the bible doesn't tell us. It could be right here, in another dimension, or it could be millions of light years away. But what if there is the need for travel in eternity?

Paul, quoting from Isaiah 64 said: "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." (I Corinthians 2:9)

OK. What are the things that the heart of man has thought of? I ask this question because God is telling us that He can do better. So, what are they?

Here are some things man has thought of: Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, etc. God can do better than these ideas!

When He creates the new Universe, will there be a reason to travel millions of light years away from earth, and then come back again? I can't see why not. Don't limit your thinking to this earth, God can do better than that!

We are the only group of saints who are promised to have the permanent presence of the Holy Spirit. The Old Testament saints, though truly saved, will not be permanently indwelt with the Holy Spirit, and the Tribulation saints, and Millennium saints, will be in the same situation.

Is it possible, then that the Church could be God's emissaries to parts of the new Universe, that the other saints could never go to?

Everywhere a Church age saint goes, he has fellowship with Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit. This is a privilege that will never end.

The other saints will have fellowship with Jesus by being in His physical presence. They don't have the Holy Spirit indwelling them, and won't want to leave His presence. We, on the other hand, could be ten million light years away, and yet ask a question and get an immediate answer!

Jesus really meant it when he said: "Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he". Matthew 11:11

John was truly saved, but he was not permanently indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

Now is the day of salvation. For those who wait until after the rapture, they will be second-class citizens of Heaven.

I don't know that I have a complete understanding of everything, but I do know that whatever I can come up with, God can do better!

God Bless,

The speed of travel and ability to pass through physical objects seems to be a function of having a spirit based body, not a physical one. Similar to angelic beings who sometimes use doors, but usually don't bother. I also suspect we will be able to communicate "heart to heart" again as a function of being spirit based - no need for physical lips and breath to communicate.

But He is omnipresent and omniscient. We will be in one place at one time - I doubt He is restricted that way. He knows the hearts of everyone - I doubt we will have that "gift" and I'm certain I wouldn't want it. Once I'm glorified finding people in the bath wouldn't bother me (beyond the fact that it would likely freak them out) but being aware of everyone's hearts, thoughts, etc. I suspect would be most distressing.

In other areas I think we will be a reflection of Him, or to phrase it differently we'll be like Him. Not the same as Him, just a reflection. Which seems fitting, because He originally created us in the "image" of Elohim.

my question isnt the purpose of glorified bodies but the purpose of us being able to travel at the speed of thought and the purpose of us walking through walls?? I don't how it is of any value. why would we need to travel like that or why would we need to walk through walls?? I can see the purpose in Jesus' case but I dont see the purpose for us.

I find the idea of being able to just walk in through the wall rather disturbing. I certainly wouldn't want someone just walking into my house or room without permission. Or just deciding to pop in on someone. I would hate to walk in to someones house and interupt "intimacy". or walking on them bathing.

In Matthew 22:30 Jesus answers a question with a statement that raises more questions than it answers. He says that the resurrected and those worthy of resurrection (i.e. those raptured without ever having to experience death) will be like the angels. Perhaps Jesus was referring only to marriage and physical relationships, or perhaps he was referring to the physical structure of resurrection bodies.

Angels have abilities we don't have at this time. Angels, however, are created beings, not equal to God.

As for the purpose of having glorified bodies--why not? What would be the purpose in not having glorified bodies? If we are to live for an eternity, a glorified body makes a lot more sense than our current bodies that are so fragile and temporary that Scripture compares them to the grass of the field.

And if we do end up with the ability to travel great distances in brief periods of time and the ability to walk through doors and walls, it might not be due to having supernatural powers. There may be more than three spatial dimensions (and I'm not so sure I would count time as a spatial dimension), in which case passing through walls may simply be a matter of hopping over walls through a fourth dimension we cannot perceive in our current 3-D bodies. Traveling at the speed of thought may simply be a matter of taking a 4-D shortcut.

On the subject of Glorified bodies some have suggested since we will have a body like Jesus' that we too will move at the speed of thought (in one area one minute across the sea in the next) and pass through walls. My question would be is there a purpose being fulfilled by us having that ability?? Could it be that ability simply a perk of him being God?? Put another way is a inheirant ability of glorified bodies or a inheirant ability of being God??

Also there does seem to be some confussion, to me at least, as to our station in eternity. I believe as we are the creature and he is the creator there will still be things in his preview only things that only he can do but I get the impression, I could be reading it wrong, that some feel we will be completely equal to God and know everything and be able to do everything he does and, for lack of a better term, become essencially the 4th member of the Godhead.

I admit we will be more than we are now as we will have gained much knowledge and have abilities that exceed what are current bodies have but I can't see us becoming equal to the creator. Isn't that basically what satan told eve would happen when she ate the fruit??

I understand we will be the bride but we are still his creation it doesn't seem right that we would become him. Even now a bride is never completely the same as her husband she retains her differences so too I would think we would be different from God.

I know my questions are not I guess typical questions most christians run across or think of but we are all different and I guess my nature is to be inquizitive like a young child and most kids ask about things they are interested in. I am glad y'all are patient with me it isn't easy being a adult in age but a child in social skills and social development.
