The Book of Life is just that - a book of every person ever born. The only names that get removed are those that have ultimately rejected salvation and are destined for spiritual death no longer candidates for eternal life.

I agree . . everyone's name is in the Book of Life ~~ and to those who reject the Gift of salvation and reject God's Son is blotted out

It is my understanding that there are two books: The Lamb's Book of Life, where a believer's name is written in when they accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, and there is also a "book of the living" as King David wrote about in Psalm 69:27-29:

Add iniquity to their iniquity,
And let them not come into Your righteousness.
Let them be blotted out of the book of the living,
And not be written with the righteous.

I get the impression from this verse that everyone's name is initially written in the book of the living, but their name is blotted out when they they refuse to repent from their unrighteousness. Then this verse goes on and refers to their name not being written with the righteous, which seems to me that is talking about the Lamb's Book of Life.

So when their name is blotted out, it's blotted out of the book of the living, not the Lamb's Book of Life. I think that's where the term being "blotted out" comes from.

That's what I was taught, anyway.

I agree with Donna. Everyone who is born is added to the Book of Life. If you reject Christ, then your name is blotted out of the Book of Life.

Once you accept Jesus as your Savior, then your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Your name is in both books!

I've heard a teaching on that in which it is explained this way:

The Book of Life is just that - a book of every person ever born. The only names that get removed are those that have ultimately rejected salvation and are destined for spiritual death no longer candidates for eternal life.

But I'm no expert on that passage. You could probably google that and find a more articulate explanation that what I'm remembering off the top of my head.

Hope that helps

but if blotting out isnt even possible why mention it at all?? only a believer would have access to the tree of life so to remove it would mean a person had access and then lost it or was a beleiver then wasn't.

I don't believe that God has an eraser. This is the way I interpret these scriptures:

I see Revelation 3:5 as a reasurance from the Lord that He will not blot your name from the Book of Life. I don't see an incidence in the Bible where Jesus erases someone's name from the Book of Life. If there is nothing in scripture about blotting out someone's name, then I don't assume that's possible.

Regarding Revelation 22:19, the NASB Version and the AMP Version says, "the tree of life". Two different things. It depends on which version of the Bible you are reading.

In Rev 3:5 it mentions that he will not blot out a persons name from the book of life. That implies that names can be blotted out of the book of life. Rev 22:19 implies this as well. Wouldnt the people in the book of life be believers?? then doesnt this imply one can beleive and then stop and thus lose you place in the book of life?? I am confused by these verses. On a CD from Perry stone he seems to imply you can lose your place in the book of life. he mentions hebrews as well which I think is widely known here.

Please help me with these verses.

Paul
